This week we enjoyed a wonderful evening at the historic Parisian venue France-Amériques, celebrating ‘American Legends.’ The book, recently published by Michael Edwards, traces the evolution of American perfumery across 40 iconic fragrances. ?? ? We're especially proud that 21 of these legendary creations bear IFF's signature. From our roots in New York, our master perfumers – Ernest Shiftan, Bernard Chant, Josephine Catapano, Sophia Grojsman, and Carlos Bena?m – have created powerful, liberating fragrances that helped shape American perfumery.??? ? A special thank you to AirParfum for providing its innovative scent experience station at the event. The AirParfum device, combined to different scent experiences, allowed our guests to discover and explore these 21 masterpieces of American perfume history! ??? ? We’re delighted to announce that Alexandra Carlin and Alex Lee, have joined IFF respectively as Fine Fragrance Senior Perfumer, and Fine Fragrance Perfumer, at our IFF Paris Fine Fragrance Creative Center. Representing two contrasting but equally inspiring routes into the art of perfumery creation, Alexandra and Alex bring with them a wealth of diverse experiences and perspectives – from literary influences, for Alexandra, to an early childhood fascination for everything scented for Alex. These new appointments join us with uniquely creative credits to their names, with Alexandra’s notable works including Diptyque Kyoto, Margiela Replica Matcha Meditation, and Amouage Honour Woman, whereas Alex has crafted fragrances such as Dolce & Gabbana's Velvet Infusion, Chloé l’Atelier des Fleurs Nuit d’Oranger, and Penhaligon’s Agarbathi. 100 years of scent-sational innovation: IFF Benicarlo celebrates its centenary! ?? Originally established in 1924 by DAKSA company founders Juan Luis Adrian and Felipe Klein, the small yet mighty factory harnessed the native scents of the surrounding Levante and Maestrat regions to produce everything from essential oils and food aromas to fruit juices. IFF acquired the site in 1986 and quickly began a wide-ranging expansion project to transform a provincial factory into a world-class center for specialty fragrance ingredients production. ?? The facility has continued to grow over the last four decades and now boasts a direct staff of 300 and an annual output of 5000 tons of increasingly complex specialized fragrance ingredients. Amid all the development, one thing has not changed - the plant’s continuous service to the local Benicarlo community and stunning landscapes which drew Adrian and Klein to the area all those years ago. With icons such as Amber Xtreme, Cashmeran, Veraspice and more, produced in Benicarlo, our 100 year old site continuously reinvents itself with new ingredients and processes.
