At IFC - International Finance Corporation, we use Blended Finance to de-risk pioneering investments and mobilize private sector participation in high-impact projects. By leveraging concessional donor funds, we help rebalance risk-reward profiles and unlock opportunities in challenging markets and fragile environments. Since 2010, IFC has committed $5.9 billion of blended finance to support 539 projects, catalyzing $32.6 billion in additional financing in priority areas such as sustainability, food security, SMEs and women-owned SMEs, and low-income and fragile economies. ?????? ?????????????? ???????????????? ? Bridges financing gaps in difficult environments. ? Enables private investment in high-impact sectors. ? Creates pathways for sustainable commercial investments. The European Commission is one of IFC’s most important strategic development partners, having provided over $538 million to IFC blended finance initiatives to date. That includes the Better Futures Program—a guarantee facility designed to de-risk investments, innovate and mobilize for sustainable development, and strengthen livelihoods in fragile contexts. The EC is also IFC’s largest blended finance contributor to Ukraine. Together, we are advancing #GlobalGateway’s strategic goals by driving sustainable investment and fostering resilient growth in emerging markets. Last week, IFC Brussels hosted the workshop “IFC Blended Finance: Unlocking Investment Opportunities in Emerging Markets,” with the EC. ?? Reflecting on a Dynamic Start to the Year at IFC Brussels!?? ? In January, we hit the ground running! We had the pleasure of welcoming Alfonso García Mora?IFC Vice-President for EUR and LAC, to Brussels, where he met with the European Commission to discuss our partnership under #EFSD+ and #GlobalGateway and how to scale up #PrivateCapitalMobilization. Our discussions covered critical initiatives, including support for #Ukraine and the #WesternBalkans and cooperation in #LatinAmericaandtheCaribbean. ? In Luxembourg, together with our Regional Industry Director Olaf Schmidt?and Head of Western Europe Siby Diabira,?we had productive exchanges with the European Investment Bank (EIB)-Global. We explored ways to enhance cooperation across regions and encourage private sector co-investment opportunities. ? Closing the month on a high note, we welcomed Elizabeth Namugenyi, IFC's new Director for Blended Finance and Partnerships, and Ines Rocha, IFC Director Europe, to Brussels. We are on track with our programming and eager to expand our partnership with the #EC to drive private sector mobilization through continued cooperation under #EFSD+. ?
