The UN Refugee Agency is joining forces with IELTS – which is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP and Cambridge University Press & Assessment – to offer hundreds of displaced people the chance to take the world’s most trusted English language test for free. Only 7% of refugees of university age who wish to continue their studies can access higher education, compared to a global average of 42%. Through partnering with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, and the provision of free tests, IELTS aims to enable a cohort of displaced refugees to build a long-term future via education and work.
