The IDeAS Composites NRT is pioneering AI-driven inverse design for advanced and sustainable composites, integrating machine learning, digital life cycle (DLC) modeling, and high-fidelity simulations to revolutionize material architectures and manufacturing processes. This interdisciplinary program brings together experts in materials science, AI, mechanical engineering, and learning sciences to train the next generation of engineers through project-based learning, industry partnerships, and AI-integrated curriculum. By leveraging variational autoencoders (VAE) and ProcessGAN, we optimize composite design for automotive, aerospace, and defense applications, while fostering diversity and inclusion through strategic partnerships with HBCUs and veteran-serving institutions. Our mission is to equip graduates with the skills, knowledge, and cross-disciplinary expertise to lead innovation in AI-powered composites for a sustainable and high-performance future.
