关于我们
IBM Research is a group of researchers, scientists, technologists, designers, and thinkers inventing what’s next in computing. We’re relentlessly curious about all the ways that computing can change the world. We’re obsessed with advancing the state of the art in AI and hybrid cloud, and quantum computing. We’re discovering the new materials for the next generation of computer chips; we’re building bias-free AI that can take the burden out of business decisions; we’re designing a hybrid-cloud platform that essentially operates as the world’s computer. We’re moving quantum computing from a theoretical concept to machines that will redefine industries. The problems the world is facing today require us to work faster than ever before. We want to catalyze scientific progress by scaling the technologies we’re working on and deploying them with partners across every industry and field of study. Our goal is to be the engine of change for IBM, our partners, and the world at large.

Last week, the first of two “?????????? ?????????????????? ??????????????” took place at IBM 's Almaden innovation lab, welcoming executives, researchers, and industry experts to an interactive discussion examining the challenges of #PFAS (“Forever Chemicals”) proliferation and the opportunity to address them with new AI technology across three fronts: – ????????????????????????????: What PFAS exposure do I have in my products, processes and supply chain? – ????????????????????????: How can I find existing, suitable “safer” alternatives? – ??????????????????: If no substitutes exist, how can I develop new replacements? The strategic importance of PFAS identification in manufacturing is now apparent. It’s a massive, complicated challenge where AI can play a crucial role in ???????? ???????????????????? and ????????????????????. The next Safer Materials Workshop will be this Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 9 am to 4 pm (followed by an Apéro riche), at?IBM Research — Zurich?in Rüschlikon, Switzerland. AI computing devours energy, not just because of the volume of data involved but also due to ???????? ????????????. Most chips are built on ?????? ?????? ?????????????? ????????????????????????, which separates compute and memory in an arrangement that’s perfect for conventional computing. But when these traditional processors are asked to compute for AI, they run into what’s called the ?????? ?????????????? ???????????????????? – or the lag that happens when data moves slower than computation. Our engineers are exploring ways to complement and overcome the bottleneck with new processors – like ??????'?? ?????? ???????????? ???? ???????????????????????? – designed to break this bottleneck and supercharge AI efficiency. Researchers Manuel Le Gallo-Bourdeau, Geoffrey W. Burr and Sidney Tsai help us navigate the concept: https://ibm.co/4ljKdtU ---- #IBM #Research #AI #Engineering #Compute #Semiconductors

Last week, I had the pleasure of traveling with Arvind Krishna to Japan to meet with key partners such as Rapidus Corporation. The day concluded with a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, where we emphasized IBM’s strong commitment to our collaboration with Japan in areas such as #semiconductors, #AI, and?#quantum.?Our work with Rapidus Corporation and other partners is of critical importance for IBM and our long-term US-Japan partnership. On #ThisDayInHistory in 1967, IBM discovered a new technique for creating the ?????????? ?????????????????? ?????????? ?????????????? ??????????????????. At the IBM Scientific Center in Houston, Texas, a team of IBM researchers successfully programmed the ?????? ????????????/360 ?????????? 50 ???????????????? to calculate the interference patterns that light waves could produce if reflected from a real object. This new method enabled the computer to generate holograms using mathematical descriptions of the object rather than requiring the real object or actual light waves for holographic production. The creation of holograms numerically by a computer opened the possibility of obtaining 3D pictures of objects that exist only in concept, rather than in physical reality, and this discovery ?????????????? ???????????????? the usefulness of holography in engineering and scientific applications. ?? - For more memorable moments from IBM history, visit and subscribe to the the IBM Research YouTube channel: https://ibm.co/41Wp0xi
