Had a fantastic evening at the Financial Times & IBM event in Barcelona: "Sport in the Age of AI and Mobile Experiences." It was a pleasure connecting with IBM Consulting executives Luq Niazi, Global Managing Partner, Assets & Industries, and Rahul Kumar, VP & Senior Partner, Telco & Media Industry. We explored how technology is revolutionizing global fandom and enhancing real-time fan experiences—blending innovation, sports, and networking in a powerful way. IBM continues to lead the way in integrating AI and mobile technologies to transform the sports industry, driving both fan engagement and athletic performance. With the proliferation of mobile devices, how fans consume sports content is evolving rapidly. A 2024 IBM study found that: ?? 64% of respondents still prefer watching sports on linear or streaming TV. ?? However, mobile devices are gaining traction, especially among younger audiences: ?? 20% of consumers now consider mobile their top choice for sports viewing. ?? 38% rank mobile as their second most preferred viewing platform. This shift highlights the growing importance of mobile-optimized platforms in delivering personalized and interactive fan experiences. Kicking off #MWC25 with such insightful discussions last night set the tone for an exciting week of exploring how AI, 5G, and edge computing will continue shaping the future of sports technology and digital innovation.
