IAEM-USA Region 10

Hey Region 10 members, it's time to throw your hat in the ring to become a Region 10 officer or state representative. Information was sent to you via e-mail today. If you have questions about being on the Region 10 board, feel free to reach out to any of our current officers, President Elizabeth "Eli" King - CEM, Vice-President Kevin Wickersham, MS, CEM, Secretary/Treasurer Billy Anderson, CEM, WSO-CSSD, Past-President Sarah K. Miller, or any of our state reps, Shontieka A., Katherine Janoski, or Jamaal Folsom.

On May 13th, IAEM and a coalition of emergency management, public safety, and government advocacy organizations released the attached letter to express our concerns with the FY24 9% cuts to DHS grant programs, including EMPG and HSGP. We're still learning about how states are looking to adapt to this cut and what impact it will have on local jurisdictions. Feel free to share the attached letter and image far and wide. Additionally, on May 9th, IAEM, NEMA, and BCEM sent a letter to Secretary Mayorkas. The letter discusses the concern with the FY24 budget agreement and then asks that he and Administrator Criswell look for FY24 reprogramming opportunities to make up the shortfall and/or include the shortfalls in the inevitable DRF supplemental request. What we need from you: Share these concerns with your Representatives and Senators. IAEM Government Affairs Committee is putting together a grassroots initiative (similar to the recent NWS campaign) to help you craft letters and conversations with your elected officials. Congratulations to our three Region X #40under40 award recipients!

International Association of Emergency Managers USA is looking at designing a pilot mentorship program that goes beyond our successful AEM/CEM mentorship initiative. We've heard from many members that this is something the association should explore as it can provide great benefits to both mentors and mentees. Maribel Street, CEM and the Membership Committee are currently leading the charge to design the initial program and will be looking for help. We need your help to understand how our program should operate and collect best practices from other existing programs. To do this we've crafted a survey that we would like as many members to complete as possible. The survey below asks for your feedback on your mentorship experiences and also allows you to sign up to help design the program.
