This news item on a new onsen resort opening in upstate New York is a great example! This initiative aims to increase transparency and awareness in the design, build and implementation of all elements of spas and wellness facilities involving thermal bathing. One of the significant contributions this Global Wellness Institute initiative has achieved is the publishing of the "Guide to Hydrothermal Spa & Wellness Development Standards," a 180-page guide that is now in its 3rd edition and has been downloaded by thousands of operators, consultants, designers, architects and builders. This book, which is available for free, is designed to help anyone who is planning to build a hydrothermal wellness area better understand the various components and considerations, as well as the unique challenges that these areas can present during the planning and build process. The book also includes cultural insights into sweat bathing and shares the most beneficial way to use the hydrotheral features, helping therapists and specialists in other fields understand and effectively advise their clients.

It was like a pre Global Wellness Summit get-together where I ran into old friends, and new ones! The theme of all things #water and #socialwellness was there for the experiencing during this year's World Championship in Aufguss! It was an opportunity not just to live the best of #sauna, #hydrotherapies, #contrast, including the wildly popular TechnoAlpin Indoor snow room, with their #softcoolldown - it was about all things Thermal Spa. I observed what I see are early adaptations (although the Thermen Bussloo has been around for 18 years - but the Dutch have been keeping it to themselves:) of what will be emerging as part of the #Experience and #Transformation economies in the Immserive Wellness Experience. - and #storytelling is at the heart of it through Aufguss! Part entertainment, social commentary, age-old lessons, and tremendous energy. Congratulations to Lasse Eriksen for helping to pioneer this new iteration of the Wellness experience! I'll be returning next year, (acquadene terme verona italy will host next year) to gather more inspiration and insights in programming and service design for the next iteration of Wellness services delivery.
