Conferences are what you personally make of them. The more engaged you are, the better your experience. My first love remains HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition. This year's edition I experienced multiple career defining moments. Too many names. Too many pictures. A couple of callouts. ***HIMSS and Informa Connect specifically Hal Wolf, JoAnn Klinedinst, MEd CPHIMS PMP DES CPTD CPDHTS LFHIMSS FACHE, Lee Marana, MBA, FHIMSS and Lexy Frechette, CEM for having me participate and letting me be me. ***Generous sponsors for booths, dinners, talks and speakeasy to include Gozio, Verato, Harmony Healthcare IT, Zscaler, Intuitive.Cloud and others. This morning, on the last day of #HIMSS25 the entrance to the show floor was buzzing with Erin Lesser’s high energy dance rhythms. It’s probably the best feature of HIMSS this year (tongue in cheek). Even on the last day Jijesh Devan, Joe Mayer, and I managed to have a few deep conversations about consent workflows with a number of core vendors. It’s also really amazing to see so much excitement around interoperability, especially since we’ve been at it for 30+ years. The conversations haven’t changed. Incumbents have grown, and many newcomers have joined the party. Tech stacks have changed (cool for devs) BUT, the companies who should really make their stuff interoperable are still dragging their feet, and for good reason (why would they kill their cash cows). But maybe they will wake up to the music. Maybe the DJ was hired to FHIR ?? up their energy. One of the coolest things I’ve seen here at #himss25! Lumi and Nova are robots who support pediatric patients at Samsung Medical Center. Thanks to Meong Hi Son for demonstrating how their tailored interactions enhance the patient experience—from providing training and education to being playmates.
