Favorite Quote? ? "Women belong in all places where decisions are being made. It shouldn't be that women are the exception".?? - Ruth Bader Ginsburg What does International Women's Day mean to you? "Coming together and helping other women find a place at the table is what International Women’s Day means to me.? I won’t say there hasn’t been progress, because there has been—I have fewer challenges than those who came before. But a lot of times, you’re still the only female leader in the room—and being the only one is not a fun place to be. The more women you can get into the room, the more we can grow together. Many of my closest friends are other female leaders in the industry." Thank you Devon for being a part of this month's special tribute! #WLI #IWD2025

Today we wrap up our final women from AMD's IWD Takeover Week! What an honor it has been to showcase amazing women from AMD. ?? For our first feature today, let us introduce to you Jini Susan George, Fellow Software System Design Engineering?at AMD. Let's get to know more on her below: "Though I started my career with working on operating system internals, during the first few years of my career itself, I had the opportunity to work on creating a performance analysis tool for a new VLIW architecture. My journey into the world of microprocessors started from there, and it has been an extremely exciting and fulfilling journey since then. What has been especially rewarding about my work at AMD is the opportunity it provides to innovate and to influence the industry through various standards bodies, and to work with the best minds in the industry." ? What does International Women's Day mean to her? ? "The fact that we celebrate The International Women’s Day itself serves as a reminder that though we have accomplished leaps and bounds towards gender equality in the semiconductor industry, the gender ratio of employees continues to remain skewed, and that we need to continue to work towards a more gender inclusive industry. Marking this day special also allows us to reflect on the accomplishments and the contributions of the numerous remarkable women who have forged the paths for many of us." Thanks for joining us during our takeover week! Keep an eye out for our final AMD feature tomorrow and stay tuned next week as close out the month by highlighting more inspiring women from other companies! #WLI #IWD2025

  • Next up in our AMD IWD Takeover Week, let's meet Lu Lu, Fellow, Silicon Design Engineering?at AMD. ?? Lets's get to know more on her and what International Women's Day means to her. "During my university years in Belgium, I stumbled into the semiconductor industry almost by accident. At the time, the English-taught programs was limited, and I found myself drawn to IC design. To my surprise, I discovered a natural aptitude for logic and chip design, excelling academically and receiving positive feedback during internships. This passion led me to pursue a master’s degree in SOC design in Sweden, where I graduated with top honors and officially began my career as an IC engineer. I chose to return to China and joined a startup, where I gained valuable experience in the fast-paced world of semiconductor innovation. Later, after relocating to Beijing with my family, I seized the opportunity to join AMD as they were building their engineering team at the Beijing site. Over the past decade at AMD, I started as a senior SOC designer and gradually immersed myself in different domains of the AMD’s SOC architecture. Through hard work and dedication, I grew into a recognized SOC architect, contributing to key projects such as the early development of AMD’s GPU AI chips, including the MI100 and MI200 series, as well as the Navi3 and Navi4 products. Recently, I made the decision to join the SOC-Next team, where I aim to leverage my extensive experience in SOC design to drive meaningful improvements to AMD’s existing SOC architecture. I am deeply passionate about my work and take pride in being part of an industry that pushes the boundaries of technology. My journey from a curious student to a seasoned SOC architect has been both challenging and rewarding, and I look forward to continuing to innovate and contribute to the future of semiconductor design. International Women’s Day, to me, is a celebration of progress, resilience, and the collective strength of women in all fields, including the male-dominated semiconductor industry. As a woman in IC industry, I’ve experienced myself the importance of perseverance and the power of breaking barriers. One quote that has inspired me is from Marie Curie: “Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood.” As an IC engineer, this resonates deeply with me. In the life of and engineer, we often face complex problems that require curiosity and determination. This quote is a philosophy that reminds me to face challenges with confidence and a mindset of learning, rather than fear." Thank you Lu Lu! Stay tuned tomorrow for more amazing women from AMD! • Next up for AMD's IWD takeover week, let's meet the amazing Xuan Chen, AMD Fellow, Analog Design Engineering. Let's learn more on her below: "My career actually started in RF engineering, where my main focus was on electromagnetic (EM) simulations. Even though signal integrity (SI) engineering was something new for me at first, it turns out they share a lot of common ground. So, when I joined AMD, the transition felt surprisingly natural. Before long, I found myself deeply involved in designing high-speed interfaces, solving exactly the kind of challenging problems I’d always enjoyed. What I truly love about my work is that there's always something new to learn. I find it incredibly satisfying to dive into complex problems and figure them out step-by-step. Looking back on my career, I’m proud to have played a part in bringing many successful AMD products to life—like the Radeon graphics family, the Instinct MI accelerators, Xbox consoles, and other gaming platforms. It’s also been really fulfilling to mentor junior engineers and collaborate with talented colleagues from diverse backgrounds. Seeing these products launch and succeed makes me feel genuinely excited about what I do every day." What Does International Women's Day mean to you? "To me, International Women’s Day is a chance to pause and celebrate the incredible achievements of women everywhere. It’s also a moment to recognize how far we've come, but also how much more there is to do when it comes to gender equality—especially in engineering and technology. Personally, this day reminds me why representation and mentorship are so powerful. Seeing other women thrive in fields like ours sends a clear, encouraging message: we absolutely belong here. One quote that really resonates with me is, “It always seems impossible until it's done.” Throughout my career, I've learned that challenges often seem daunting at first, but when we support and uplift each other, we find ways to overcome them. And ultimately, that creates opportunities not just for women, but for everyone around us." Thank you Xuan for sharing! ?? #WLI #IWD25 #engineering #womenengineers #semiconductor

  • It's TAKEOVER week with AMD! ? Follow along this week for our IWD Spotlight Series as we feature some incredible women making an impact at AMD. To kick things off, we are excited to introduce to you Srilatha (Bobbie) M., Sr. Fellow, Software Development, RAD at AMD. Let's learn more on Bobbie: “My path to the semi-industry started on a very transactional basis. I wanted to be financially independent so that I can make my own decisions in life. As an Indian-American, they were cultural expectations of what I would be, and at that time the acceptable choices were doctor, engineer, or lawyer. After some research, I realized that being an Electrical Engineer was the fastest way to achieve financial independence. I started work at 21 with a BSEE at a VLSI design center and that is when I started learning more about the semiconductor industry and began to enjoy the technical challenges posed by the job. I wanted to learn more and explore opportunities beyond VLSI design. This translated into graduate school, concluding with a PhD in Electrical Engineering and a career as a Computer Architect. My natural inclination is to seek out new things – new problems, new ideas, new areas of work – and computer architecture is the perfect field for this. I started my career in the field of VLSI Design and CAD tools but have worked in low power design, CPU microarchitecture, SOC design, system design up to data center scale, silicon sustainability, and most recently power efficient GPU architecture. Every time I move from one area to another, I learn something new and add to the set of ideas I can apply elsewhere. The flexibility to grow and change in this industry is what I love most about my job. It is never static and always changing. I am constantly on a learning curve, but I also carry forward what I have learned and apply these ideas to new areas. In my career, I have worked at a half dozen companies and spent many years in graduate school. I have had technical successes and failures during that time, but my proudest achievements center around people. I would not be where I am if it were not for the encouragement, guidance, and lessons I received from my mentors, and similarly my greatest joys center on giving back to the community. Q: What's your favorite quote? A: My favorite quote is from Maya Angelou who said “I’ve learned that making a living is not the same thing as making a life.” Although I started my career to make a living?and have financial independence, that was not sufficient. We wear many hats in our lives – mother, daughter, friend, partner -- and we constantly juggle those labels. To have a good career, I’ve learned that our career should not define us, but that we should define our career so that it allows us to be the whole woman and provides the joy and satisfaction we are seeking in life." Thank you for sharing your inspiring story! Learn more on WLI: https://lnkd.in/d5GC5KXp. #WLI #IWD25
