The Geological Society of America invites all undergraduate geoscience students to apply for GSA’s Section Research Grants! These grants support students conducting original research by providing funding to fuel their curiosity and advance their studies. In 2024, we proudly awarded grants to 12 exceptional students and we look forward to awarding even more this year! GSA's 2025 Geology Club Tee-Off continues tonight at midnight! Next up is the Northeastern Section Tournament and the North-Central Section Tournament. Each round will provide approximately 24 hours for voting, running from 12:00 a.m. MT – 11:30 p.m. MT, and you can vote for your favorite geology clubs by following these simple instructions. How to Vote: 1. Visit the voting platform:? Northeastern: geosociety.co/NE25 North-Central: geosociety.co/NC25 2. Click "Start Voting" at the top left of the window. 3. You’ll be prompted to enter your name and email address. 4. You’ll be shown paired geology club logo designs – choose your favorite in each matchup!? 5. The winners move forward in this bracket-style, single-elimination competition. 6. Keep voting in each new round until the champion is crowned. GSA’s On To the Future (OTF) program is open and accepting applications! OTF supports geoscience students interested in attending GSA Connects by offering partial travel funding, meeting registration, GSA Membership, mentorship, and special sessions with leadership during the meeting. OTF scholars benefit from a vibrant network, community, and opportunities to build social capital within the geosciences. Thanks to a new collaborative research award from the U.S. National Science Foundation, GSA can now offer expanded opportunities for both scholars and mentors to participate in OTF for up to four years! What OTF Offers: -Financial support to attend GSA Connects in the form of travel funding, meeting registration, and GSA Membership. -An opportunity to connect with Geoscience professionals and make meaningful mentor relationships. -The chance to network and find community amongst other OTF scholars and build social capital. -Participation in OTF field-trips, mentor meetings, and OTF Workshop events. Congratulations to the Southeastern Section Tournament Champions for GSA’s 2025 Geology Club Tee-Off, the William & Mary Geology Club! "We are so excited to share our department’s enthusiasm for geology across our campus and beyond. The tee-off brought our department even closer together and we believe the outcome is a testament to the power of our amazing community, especially our alumni. The J. David Lowell Field Camp Scholarship is GSA's annual award for undergraduate students to attend summer field camp. Students are awarded $2,000 each to attend the field camp of their choice based on diversity, financial need and merit. GSA partner Brunton will provide each recipient with a new engraved Purple Standard Transit! Maker of the essential geologist's instrument, Brunton aims to inspire, educate, and support professional pursuits in the sciences.
