We’ve joined Better Housing Coalition's 8th annual Gingerbread House Challenge! We're creating a gingerbread display based on the theme ‘Fairy Tales, Fables, and Folklore' to raise awareness and critical funds for the preservation and creation of affordable housing in the Richmond region. Follow our gingerbread house journey and plan to vote for “Kicks Court” on Nov. 10th from noon-5pm at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery in Richmond. "Kicks Court" takes inspiration from the tale, 'There Was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe. " We'll weave affordable housing development ideas with this tale to create a village of shoes that will boast living accommodations for those who need them most.

Welcome Adrian Robinett to the Greater Virginia Women's Affordable Housing Network board of directors! Adrian Robinett brings over 12 years of experience in public relations and communications to her role as Vice President of Communications for the Women’s Affordable Housing Network of Greater Virginia. Raised in Southwest Virginia, Adrian’s deep commitment to affordable housing stems from her personal experience with housing insecurity and witnessing its impact on her community. Adrian earned her degree in Public Relations and Journalism from the University of Lynchburg. Early in her career, she?expanded her focus by becoming a licensed loan officer in multiple states, working to help individuals and families secure stable housing. Currently, Adrian serves as the Public Relations Manager at Virginia Housing, where she oversees public relations, events, and internal and external communications for one of the country’s leading state housing finance agencies. Her work at Virginia Housing supports initiatives to increase access to affordable housing across the state. Outside of her professional career, Adrian is a mother of twins and enjoys expressing her creativity through painting and other artistic endeavors.? #affordablehousing

Team Greater Virginia Women's Affordable Housing Network continues to grow - welcome Janei Lofty to the board of directors! As a Community Gerontologist, Janei Lofty, is committed to promoting safe, affordable, and accessible housing for all. With 6 years of experience working in the housing sector, she has developed a deep understanding of the challenges facing individuals and families in securing and maintaining stable housing. Throughout her career she has worked to secure?supportive services?aiming to alleviate the survival fatigue of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged communities especially the elderly. Her goal is for all older adults to have the ability to age in place through the preservation of affordable housing. To support this goal, She has been involved in community organizing efforts to develop a continuum of service options that meet the needs of low-income households. Her work as a housing advocate, includes assisting with eviction prevention efforts, providing counseling, and education on tenant rights and responsibilities, while helping individuals navigate the complex housing system to secure safe and affordable housing options. She is a passionate and dedicated advocate, with a proven track record of building strong partnerships to advance housing justice. She is deeply devoted to social justice and equity, and committed to advancing policies and practices that promote fair and equitable access to housing for all. As a two time graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University she enjoys going to events and connecting with students both locally and nationally.? #affordablehousing
