What do you get when you combine fuel cells with turbine engine running on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)? GE Aerospace Researchers are aiming for a future of flight with net zero CO2 emissions.? GE Aerospace Research engineer John Hong and team are working on building and demonstrating a 25kW power generation subsystem integrating solid oxide fuel cells with a SAF-powered gas turbine for hybrid electric propulsion. Did you know that the GE Flight Test Center in Schenectady, NY, made history more than 75 years ago and is now known as the?Empire State Aerosciences Museum: https://www.esam.org/. GE constructed a hangar at the Schenectady County Airport in 1946 to assist the US in developing jet engines. In the 1950’s the Center was used to test jet engines and military aircraft.
