Great things are happening at the Freshwater Institute in 2025!?? ?? First on the to-do list is to convert our existing flow-through fry tanks to RAS. While the flow-through system served us well for many years, we’re very excited about this change and the possibilities it brings to our early-life stage research. Stay tuned for progress updates.?

Just Published – Nitrate levels are primarily controlled by the dilution rate in RAS without denitrification technologies. Therefore, understanding the nitrate tolerance of cultured fish is critical for establishing important facility criteria, including water use requirements, realistic fish production targets, proper RAS design, and end-of-pipe water treatment strategies. The interdependency of these parameters is explained in context to post-smolt Atlantic salmon production in this recently published Hatchery International article by FI researchers John Davidson,?Curtis Crouse, Christine Lepine, and Christopher Good.?Star-Oddi Hatchery International ? #FIResearch #waterquality #RAS #salmon? https://lnkd.in/ePiDH7yK
