We had a full house yesterday for an incredible panel discussion, where industry leaders in manufacturing and trades came together with education experts to discuss building a strong workforce for the future. The panel was packed with purposeful conversation about how many local schools and industry partners are already doing the right things to spark student interest in these vital fields, yet the road is long. One of the key takeaways? It’s not just about starting the conversation—it’s about CONTINUING it. We must keep delivering this information to students AND parents, ensuring they understand the wealth and abundance of opportunities in these industries. Open discussions like today’s keep the lines of communication strong and allow us to collaborate effectively. We're proud to be partners with the National Association of Women In Construction NAWIC - Metro Denver Chapter #112#112#112#112. We kicked off our partnership hosting the first #EmergingLeaders group where 35 women professionals and a dozen EPIC female students attended a breakfast meeting that was lead by Andrea Janzen here at EPIC Campus. We heard from Sarah Kotzen who was inspired by her 6th grade #Woodshop teacher. Small world - her teacher was EPIC Campus Construction Trades Pathway Lead, Marc Finer! They shared motivating insights for our emerging female construction students to go chase their dreams in the construction industry. The session also included 30 minutes of #ConstructionOlympics where teams had to demonstrate skills at measuring, hammering nails, removing nails by using collaboration and communication. The Construction Trades Instructor will collaborate with the Construction Trades Pathway Lead and local industry partners to develop and instruct the following classes; Construction Design and Technology, Sustainability and Transformative Construction, Construction 1, and Construction 2.?See the?EPIC Course Catalog linked here?for course descriptions.?The ideal candidate will have industry experience in construction design and building trades.? The instructor will begin teaching responsibilities in August.?This is a 210-day contract beginning August 1, 2024, through June 20, 2025. Essential Duties include, but are not limited to: Instruct project-based curriculum for multiple courses that is industry relevant and allows students to earn industry certifications, concurrent enrollment, content credit and work-based learning experiences? Collaboration with LPS teachers (CTE, content teachers, special service providers) Effective oral and written communication skills Maintain budget and tracking data of student participation Support the overall goals of the Construction Trades Pathway, the EPIC Campus, and Littleton Public Schools Assistance in selecting and ordering equipment? Serving on advisory committees? Additional training as necessary Promoting the EPIC Campus and this pathway by connecting with students, parents, community members and industry partners? Instruct pathway-specific summer programming course in June (minimum of 15 days, 4 hours per day). Schedule set by EPIC Campus Administration. ? Education/Experience -The ideal candidate will possess or be able to possess: ? Relevant industry experience with an emphasis in construction design, architecture, interior design, and/or familiarity with LEED and WELL standards. We’ve had a busy month at all of our?Aims?campuses for College for Kids, a summer program that provides unique, educational and fun experience for students ages 9 to 12. From agriculture to public safety and video production, these classes are designed to be hands-on, fun, and showcase a little of the Aims experience.
