Celebrating International Day of Zero Waste: A Step Towards a Sustainable Future ?? 30th March is a day to raise awareness about the urgent need to reduce waste, reuse resources, and recycle—key steps in building a cleaner, more sustainable planet. A zero-waste future is essential in tackling climate change, and collective action is more crucial than ever. At the heart of this mission in Europe is the European Green Deal, which aims for carbon neutrality by 2050 and strongly supports circular economy principles. A major focus is on reducing food loss and waste, as 88 million tonnes of food are wasted annually in Europe alone. ?? F6S Innovation is driving impact in food systems through Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects: ? ZeroW – Developing and scaling systemic innovations to reduce food loss and waste across supply chains. ? FOODITY – Empowering citizens, startups, and SMEs with digital tools to create sustainable and transparent food systems. Through its two open calls, FOODITY directly supports several startups dealing with zero food waste: https://lnkd.in/dyeJzT-5 ? CIRCULOOS promotes circular economy principles by helping SMEs reduce waste and extend product lifecycles through "R-strategies" like repair, reuse, and recycling. The first Open Call (Expression of Interest) is closing, with Open Calls 2 & 3 launching on 26th March 2025. Achieving a zero-waste future requires a joint effort—businesses, governments, and individuals all have a role to play.
