EVerest now supports OCPP 2.1!! EVerest maintainers Piet G?mpel Kai Hermann merged the OCPP 2.1 development branch into LF Energy EVerest Project's master branch! This brings OCPP 2.1 core functionality into the main branch of EVerest. So OCPP 2.1 will be part of every new EVerest release, starting with the upcoming 2025.3.0 release. To all the OCPP techies out there: Check out the pull request on GitHub https://lnkd.in/eRFBAbSr Are you working on OCPP 2.1 and want something to test against? The EVerest project, initiated by PIONIX GmbH and since 2022 part of Linux Foundation Energy, is an open source modular framework for setting up a full stack environment for EV charging. EVerest is more than just a couple of independent protocol implementations. It is a modular framework which includes everything needed to support a large number of charging business cases, from a non-managed home charger to a load balancing multiple satellite bidirectional DC charging site.

I was asked by the Open Charge Alliance to join the panel during the #OCPP 2.1 webinars this week. Happy to represent the LF Energy EVerest Project and share the experience we have with the migration from OCPP 2.0.1 to 2.1. With EVerest migrating OCPP 2.1 into the main branch soon, it will be available to anybody that wants to use EVerest for testing while implementing OCPP 2.1. https://lnkd.in/eACPVAWc

1.000 is a great number! In terms of pull requests, #libOCPP has reached this magic number. A great success. But by no means the only one in February 2025 for the #EVerest project. Here’s a list of some highlights; ?? #OCPP 2.1: First Successful Tests! ?? First direct driver contribution by manufacturer: Isabellenhütte Heusler GmbH & Co. KG IEM-DCR #powermeter ?? EVerest Open Source Technology Improvement Fund, Inc (OSTIF) #security audit will launch soon ?? Work on #MSC has started ... and of course many refactorings and cleanups in EVerest and the testing framework happened. Check out the recording on Youtube https://lnkd.in/ed8FWNuC

OCPP 2.1 implementation of EVerest works even better than expected. Result of day 1 OCA Plugfest Antioch 2025: EVerest Project. Today Piet G?mpel has been super busy testing with 5 test partners, while I assistant him and talked to all the other attendees. We started the day with two 2.1 test slots. As the code was largely untested: pleasant surprised!! It was super easy to get a connection up and running. Testing went so smooth, we were even able to test all kinds of less common use cases. Then we had 3 test slots with OCPP 2.1, we are impressed by how much of OCPP 2.0.1 our test partners had implemented. We have test all kinds of Smart Charging use case, Reservation and even Display Message was tested. And, we were not the only team testing with EVerest. K. Shankari was focusing on the most advance Smart Charging use cases and improvements the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation team has been making over the last months. #evcharging #ocpp #ocpp21

News from Task 53: Interoperability of Bidirectional Charging Our task is to enable V2G scaling through the interoperability of bidirectional charging. To this end, we will assemble selected global V2G key players in a Task 53 consortium to deliver interoperable V2G products that support the grid based on harmonized international standards. This initiative should serve as a North Star for the V2G industry to follow. Our timeframe is limited to 2027 to achieve our target concrete deliveries: Interoperability between three EV brands, three EVSE brands, and five DSOs (Distributed System Operators) in Europe and North America. We are a non-profit, technology-neutral?(CCS 1, CCS 2, NACS; DC, AC, Wireless …), and geographically neutral (North America, Europe, ROW) sponsored by the Government of Switzerland. After six months, we have made good progress. (figure). We have assembled nine countries as members plus the EU (Switzerland, USA, EU, South Korea, Spain, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, and France) and the first batch of industrial companies from the V2G ecosystem. We have even onboarded the first Indian company, the Grid Integration Lab, from IIT Mumbai as a Task 53 member. We are now focusing on onboarding EV OEMs to assemble a powerhouse of like-minded companies and countries in the Task 53 consortium that wants to scale V2G based on international EV-EVSE standard ISO 15118-20. We want to engage in a constructive dialog with the broader V2G ecosystem, so please send us your comments and suggestions (to [email protected]). As we move forward, we will keep you informed about our progress. #v2G #v2gnow
