The future of student careers looks bright! Last week, Jessica Andrews-Todd led the ETS/UTSA Young Scientists Institute with hands-on activities, such as a guided scavenger hunt for graduate programs and jobs of interest, and panels from ETS research and assessment developer professionals. “I think the most exciting part for me was engaging with the students. They ask really great questions, and I really enjoy helping them navigate their way into the graduate and professional world,” said Jessica. Part of The University of Texas at San Antonio Pathways to Education Research Training Program, the Young Scientists Institute supports undergraduate #students in learning about #research, assessment, graduate school, and #researchcareers outside of academia.

Scores from large-scale assessments offer a snapshot of students' skills — but do we know HOW each student arrived at their score? ?? Our scientists developed a new framework that combines the data from student?responses with previously-untapped process data —like test navigation, time management and question approach—to develop student engagement profiles that provide deeper insights into test-taking behaviors. => This level of insight was previously only available in small-scale settings (labs or classrooms). Here’s the skinny on this groundbreaking study ?? https://bit.ly/4hTJbCt ?? Congratulations to the lead author Hongwen Guo and co-authors Luis Saldivia, Michelle Worthington, Kadriye Ercikan and Matthew Johnson! ?? #AI #largescaleassessment #ethicalAI #ETS #assessmentinnovation
