One of the distinguishing features of the Foundation for Community Driven Innovation Equity in Entrepreneurship program is our focus on the fundamentals of small business ownership - like tonight's session on basic accounting tools, resources and best practices, led by FCDI CFO Steve Willingham. There were some great questions and conversation around the topic, too. We're excited about this new group of early and next stage entrepreneurs and honored to share a small part in their journey!

Our last formal session for our summer cohort looked at social enterprise as a valuable business model differentiator. We started with a couple great videos from program mentor Tony Selvaggio of eSmart Recycling, an exemplary social entrepreneur, and then got a great impromptu presentation from Theo Boomsma, also a talented social entrepreneur and founder of Iot Lab Suriname and Julie Sundar, founder of Codettes Foundation and one of this year's Chevron Fab Fellowship winners, doing part of her Fellowship at AMRoC FabLab where the Equinent program is hosted. They shared some insights and ideas around fine tuning business niches and inspired some great discussion. Next week, two more of our awesome entrepreneurs head to 1 Million Cups Tampa to share their stories. Join us in cheering them on!
