Direct Pay RI Energy Project Reimbursement Assistance
非盈利组织
Organizing technical assistance for Rhode Island non-profits, state agencies, cities, towns and Tribal Nation.
关于我们
Inflation Reduction Act includes game-changing new provisions that will enable tax-exempt and governmental entities—such as states, local governments, Tribes, territories, and nonprofits—to take an active role in building the clean energy economy, lowering costs for working families, and advancing environmental justice. We are Rhode Island's connector, convener and technical assistance provider for cities, towns and state agencies to apply for reimbursements for renewable energy projects. From EVs, to solar panels to heat pumps, your project may be eligible for a reimbursement of up to 30%. This project is a collaborative partnership between the RI AFL-CIO, Climate Jobs RI and the CEO roundtable the Partnership for Rhode Island. We do not charge for our assistance or take a percentage of savings.

NEW: Today Treasury and IRS issued additional guidance that will improve access to elective pay (aka direct pay) for co-owned clean energy projects. Specifically, today’s final rules make modifications to the rules for electing out of partnership tax status for entities like governments or tax-exempts jointly investing in clean energy projects. By collectively electing out of partnership status, co-owners that are eligible for elective pay can take advantage of the elective pay for the share of the project that they own. Today’s guidance provides additional clarity and flexibility for entities pursuing that option.

A great (and quick) read from the National League of Cities on the #IRA #DirectPay program. Worth a read for any municipal leaders. "Understanding which projects are eligible for direct pay and how to file with the IRS is important for city staff as due dates are approaching, plus filing?depends on how your jurisdiction elects to calculate their tax year (e.g., calendar year or fiscal year). For first-time filers and municipalities electing a calendar tax year?— which are likely most local governments — filings for projects that were put into service in 2023 are due November 15, which includes an automatic six-month extension for first-time filers. In subsequent years, for local governments that choose a calendar year calculation, filings would be due on May 15." https://lnkd.in/etfhFaX9 Randy Rossi, MBA, CGFM, ICMA-CM Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns Reily Connaughton Cheyenne Cazeault Camille Capraro Partnership for Rhode Island Tom Giordano Karen Bradbury Chris Kearns #CompeteRI

The opportunity to unlock clean energy investments is here -- "but we must seize the opportunity." Thanks to Rachel Isacoff for highlighting three specific examples.
