Diageo Ireland's Spirited Women Employee Resource Group were proud to mark #InternationalWomensDay2025 this week with a celebration of the brilliant careers that women can have in commercial roles across the on-trade and off-trade categories in Ireland, at our beautiful Roe & Co Distillery here in Dublin 8. Hosted by Diageo's Sorcha Breen, panelists on the night were Caoimhe McCabe, Diageo Ireland's Commercial Director for the Take-Home Trade; Alison Dunn, Ireland Country Manager for Amazon; Kathy Gleeson, Owner of the Vintage Inn, and Deborah Maher, Diageo Ireland's Head of On-Trade Commercial for Dublin Northeast. The enlightening discussion focused on the many avenues people take into a dynamic commercial career - as well as some tangible advice on why mentorship matters throughout your career and how to make the most of that mentorship. Last night, we were proud to receive the Green Food and Beverage Award and the Green Manufacturer Award at the annual #GreenAwardsIRL held at the Clayton Burlington Hotel, Dublin. Since 2008, the Green Awards have recognised outstanding sustainability efforts by Irish businesses, and we were delighted to have the opportunity to spotlight some of the amazing initiatives being undertaken by Diageo’s Irish business over the past year, such as: ??The decarbonisation of St James’s Gate? ??The construction of Ireland’s first carbon neutral brewery in Co. Kildare? ??The development of Bailey’s first aluminium bottle? ??The Everpour circular solution trial with our on-trade customers? ?? Our ongoing commitment to our local community here in the Liberties …to name a few! These awards are reflective of a truly cross functional business effort at Diageo and colleagues on the night were happy to accept the awards on behalf of the wider team – all of whom are committed to creating a more inclusive and sustainable world for all.? At Diageo Ireland, we are committed to supporting our local communities - a commitment that stretches back generations, continuing the legacy of the Guinness family. As part of this commitment, our teams recently spent some time volunteering in the centre of those communities. ?? Through the Liffey Partnership, colleagues did some painting and weeding at the Cherry Orchard Community Garden in Dublin 10. This 2-acre plot of land is a thriving social enterprise producing over 2 tonnes of award-winning, organic fruits and vegetables each year. The Garden provides access to green space and an avenue for the community to participate in climate action. ??? At the Capuchin Day Centre in Dublin 7, Diageo employees served meals to guests over the course of six days, and in December our team raised funds for the Capuchin Day Centre's annual carol singing for the charity! ?? At The Charles Sheils Charity in Carrickfergus, County Antrim - colleagues took time to give the shared community area an update! They undertook some weeding and painting, and also planted a mixed native hedgerow to surround the beautiful community area for all to use. The charities made our teams feel so welcome, and we were delighted to lend support in such a tangible way. Doddie’s Grand Tour sets off from the home of Guinness! Around 50 cyclists from Scotland and across the island of Ireland set off from the St. James's Gate brewery this week for the first leg of Doddie's Grand Tour – an impactful campaign that raises funds for Motor Neuron Disease research. After a reception in the Guinness Storehouse on Monday evening, the group set off on Tuesday morning through Dublin's rain-soaked streets. Ireland rugby veterans Gordon D'Arcy, Paul Wallace and Denis-McBride were among the cyclists joining Former British and Irish Lion Rob Wainwright and his team, all covering 122 miles on their bikes to the ferry in Belfast. A group of keen cyclists from Diageo –?the Diageo Dynamos, led by President, Global Supply Chain & Procurement and Chief Sustainability Officer Ewan Andrew, are joining the cycle in Scotland in the coming days - where they will cycle by Diageo’s whiskey manufacturing sites including Shieldhall, Cambus, Blackgrange, Royal Lochnagar, Leven, Cameronbridge and Johnnie Walker Princes Street. This is an incredible journey for those involved, all in the name of raising funds for Motor Neuron Disease research. Celebrating 25 years of the Guinness Men's Six Nations, a global occasion that taps into culture as much as sport. To celebrate the anniversary, the team Captains and Head Coaches from each Union and Federation gathered at the Colosseum in Rome, for the annual showpiece launch event that signals the start of the Guinness Men's Six Nations Championship. Guinness cemented their position in rugby by extending their Title Partnership of the Men’s Championship in 2023, and elevating their role in the women’s game, to be Title Partner of the Guinness Women’s Six Nations. We had the great honor of hosting London-based Irish chef Anna haugh at our St. James’s Gate Brewery recently as part of her culinary and cultural journey through Ireland, for a new BBC Northern Ireland series; Anna Haugh’s Big Irish Food Tour. In Episode 3, airing this evening (Monday, January 20, 2025) at 8pm on BBC Northern Ireland, Anna visits our own Graeme McKinnon at the brewery’s Pilot Plant in Dublin 8 where she explores intricate brewing processes and how various ingredients and techniques come together to create the distinctive flavours in our beers. After sampling some of our delicious products alongside Lee Walsh, Anna then uses the products to make mouthwatering stout-infused Irish soda bread. Don't miss out on this fantastic episode!
