关于我们

Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) was one of the first regions to be designated as part of the Department of Energy Clean Cities and Communities Partnership in 1995. DFW Clean Cities works to reduce transportation energy use and improve air quality by providing guidance to fleets and other drivers about clean vehicle fuels/technologies, coordinating infrastructure planning and readiness, and facilitating best practices around transportation-energy integration.

EV adoption in the region is increasing quickly, which can increase demand on the electric grid. But did you know, EV charging is forecasted to only add 1.25% by 2029, up from 0.2% in 2023. From 2014-2022 the average annual growth rate for the energy load in the ERCOT region was 3.1%, and it’s expected to rise to 17.1% in 2024-2027. Much of this increase in demand is forecasted to come from data centers, cryptocurrency mining, hydrogen production, and large industrial loads.? With support from SECO, NCTCOG/DFW Clean Cities staff began evaluating resilience options for EV charging, analyzing the current state of the ERCOT grid with a focus on growing EV adoption infrastructure resilience. This effort underscores the importance of planning to manage grid impacts and ensure critical city operations can maintain EV charging capabilities during outages.?? We have great innovators in our Coalition! On Friday, Tanya Brooks shared the great work that DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) has done piloting EV chargers at two of their park and ride lots, which have expanded access to charging in southern Dallas and in Glenn Heights. It’s a great story about leveraging transit assets to being more amenities to local communities. Coalition Director Lori Pampell Clark also shared information about new regional opportunities to further build #EVcharging with help from funding under the Bipartisan #Infrastructure Law. Thanks to the Greater Dallas Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce for having us! #cleancities #electricvehicles
