Vehicle navigation systems, cellphone weather apps, TV broadcasts and myriad other technologies depend on satellites, but they are increasingly targeted by cyber threats. To combat this, Deloitte is expanding the Space ISAC’s Watch Center with a new Hub in Australia, providing global real-time threat intelligence and cybersecurity safeguards. “Today, there are more than 10,000 satellites in orbit, many with fewer cybersecurity safeguards than the average smartphone,” said Lt. Gen. (Ret.) chris weggeman. “The Watch Center Hubs Deloitte is enabling are equipped with specialists using cutting-edge technologies to quickly identify vulnerabilities and threats.” Deloitte is proud to support the Space ISAC’s mission and enhance global cybersecurity for space assets. “Our modern way of life depends on services provided by space,” said Ryan Roberts MBA, CISSP. “With the number of satellites expected to increase to 100,000 by the end of the decade, the resiliency of our space assets is critical.” Read the press release here: https://deloi.tt/4eKwDLG #CyberSecurity #SpaceISAC #Deloitte #SpaceInnovation #SatelliteProtection #GlobalSecurity #CyberDefense

For Veterans and Military Families Month, we were honored to have Charles F. Bolden Jr., a distinguished Naval Academy graduate, Major General, U.S. Marine Corps (Retired), Naval Aviator, Astronaut, Space Shuttle Mission Commander and Pilot, and 12th NASA Administrator, join us at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum to talk about his experiences and leadership. The event took place in front of the Space Shuttle DISCOVERY, which he commanded! Thank you, Charles Bolden, for sharing your incredible journey and for inspiring us with your dedication to service both on Earth and in space. At Deloitte, we take immense pride in being an organization where Veterans can continue to serve the public sector in the civilian workforce. We also have more than 500 professionals serving in the National Guard and Reserves, and an active and diverse community of Veterans, servicemembers, military spouses, military families, caregivers, and allies. All year round, Deloitte honors its incredibly talented and skilled Veterans, active-duty service members, military spouses, military family members, caregivers, and dedicated allies. We are proud to have a vibrant Veterans, Military, Spouses, and Allies (VMSA) community dedicated to fostering inclusion and support. Here’s the story of one of our Veteran colleagues: MK Banzuelo, MBA MPH , US Navy Reservist and Deloitte Consultant What is your military background? Born in Quezon City, Philippines, and raised in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, MK Banzuelo has a truly unique journey. She started college at 15, moved to the United States, completed her MBA, and is fluent in five languages—all before joining the military. Enlisting at the rank of E3, she became a naturalized US citizen during boot camp and was stationed on the USS Comstock. Throughout her 12-year active-duty career, MK faced numerous challenges, including adapting as an older enlistee among younger sailors and spending holidays away from her family. How has your military background shaped your Deloitte experience? Shortly after transitioning to the Navy Reserves, MK joined Deloitte, where she assists organizations in the Government & Public Services sector with core business operations and operations transformation. She also serves as chief of staff for Deloitte’s VMSA West hub. MK’s transition marked three major changes: from active duty to reserve, enlisted to officer, and military to civilian life. Although she says it was challenging to strike a balance, her ability to communicate and advocate for herself, coupled with her leaders’ understanding and support in the Navy and at Deloitte, helped her through it. Wellness and well-being are central to MK’s philosophy. She advocates for open communication and psychological health, drawing from her personal experiences and the support systems she has encountered. Her commitment to wellness is evident in her proactive approach to integrating work, family, and personal health, and in her efforts to support her colleagues and subordinates. “I am passionate about working to bring the best version of ourselves to work,” she says. For the seventh year, Deloitte proudly hosted the annual National Veterans Summer Sports Clinic (NVSSC) and helped support service-disabled Veterans as they engaged in adventure sports, while fostering camaraderie and strengthening resilience. This year, more than 130 Veterans participated – the most ever, along with 30 dedicated and energetic volunteers from Deloitte and the VA. Deloitte’s Tony Caucci, who is both a volunteer and a Veteran, was deeply moved by his experience at this year’s NVSSC and the remarkable determination shown by the Veterans, including an amputee who surfed independently. On Veterans Day and always, we honor all who have bravely served our nation and thank you for your unwavering commitment and sacrifice. It is a privilege to volunteer our time to help support you, the VA, and your families.
