As the DASH program office looked back at 2024, we found that some interrelated themes have emerged from the projects we’ve undertaken this past year in collaboration with our partners: intentionality as a key stance, relationship as a key orientation, and co-design as a key dynamic. : : : #data #health #equity #community #publichealth Kaara Kallen Melissa Moorehead Waldo Mikels-Carrasco

We help communities share data to bring about health equity.
关于我们
Data Across Sectors for Health (DASH) is a national initiative that elevates models, principles, and practices that support communities sharing data across sectors to achieve health equity. We support practitioners by providing financial support and technical assistance, sharing resources, surveying the field, supporting peer learning, and building networks. In our work, we consider the social, political, economic, and historical context of information systems to ensure that no inequities remain hidden from sight. This systems approach has led us to center collaboration, the inclusion of people with lived experience, peer learning, asset framing, and policy-level impact as core values. DASH is co-led by the Illinois Public Health Institute and the Michigan Public Health Institute. The two institutes make up the DASH Program Office, which is funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

DASH is known for its work as a convener and supporter of collaborations, and we’re delighted to expand this work with an in-person Partners and Peers conference slated to take place in Fall of 2025 in a Midwest location to be determined. The purpose of the convening is to share and celebrate the efforts of the people living and working in communities who are challenging structural barriers to equitable data ecosystems.? ?? We are committed to providing the content and opportunities you—our community—would most value. To that end, we would be grateful if you took about five minutes to complete this brief survey about potential convening topics and formats. https://lnkd.in/dcm4zeHf : : : #health #equity #publichealth #data #community #conference Melissa Moorehead

"The San Diego community exchange is a model of what a CIE can be, and it has sparked a spread of the concept. It coordinates and provides tools and mentorship for a national network of more than 30 other places building their own exchanges. One effort it’s assisting is in Chicago, where an exchange is being built by the Illinois Public Health Institute. As in San Diego, Chicago’s exchange is initially focusing on people experiencing housing insecurity, but IPHI is building the system so it can include other populations." : : : #communityinformationexchange #publichealth #datasharing #healthequity Waldo Mikels-Carrasco Hilary Heishman RWJF Community Information Exchange (CIE San Diego)

Data can help formulate goals and strategies, and help develop sound policies. But data does not open minds or change mindsets. Narratives do. : : : #community #data #health #healthcare #wellbeing #publichealth #equity #healthequity Melissa Moorehead Kaara Kallen

DASH is a national initiative co-led by the Illinois Public Health Institute (IPHI) and MPHI that helps build community capacity to understand and use data for health equity. Based on learnings from its funding activities, DASH elevates models, principles, and practices that can support equitable multi-sector community data ecosystems. As part of CPPH, DASH will continue to apply a ‘systems’ lens to community health. By considering the social, political, economic, and historical context of data ecosystems, DASH can work toward a fair, just, and inclusive future for all: https://lnkd.in/emvjYDi3

In our latest Insight article, ???????????????????????????? ???????????? ???????????????????? ?????????? ???? ?????????????? ?????? ???????????? ???????????? ???????????? ???????? ??????????????????????????, Deputy Director, Mid-States Region, Chuck Curran, J.D., discusses how the CDC’s new Data Modernization Implementation Center Program offers public health agencies funding and support to accelerate adoption of the latest health IT standards and expand participation in data exchange networks. The program emphasizes projects that take advantage of the Trusted Exchange Framework network (TEFCA) and that leverage improved data interoperability standards. Public health agencies can now submit proposed data modernization projects for potential program support.
