Background: We asked our Grey Swan Guild members what ventures of value would be interesting, 12 ventures crossed the threshold of interest, Cygnus Sprints was ranked #1. It made too much sense that a guild of 4,000 people with this much talent wouldn't want to apply their skills to real situations for commercial interest. An advance group did some great strategy work (Nov-January'22) that has led to the Cygnus Sprints group we are hatching. Why we built it: The world is spinning out of control with uncertainty & blindspots, wild cards, infinite choices, accelerated speed and volatility, the risks can be huge, stress levels and distractions among higher management is high, and they are certainly not adequately addressed by incumbent consulting, change and advisory groups from a value, time, experience, discipline and shared purpose perspective; we have a better model and talent to deliver what clients need. What we do: The core of what we do will be seven Sprints to achieve better insight, direction and change in three months or less: - Sensemaking (to navigate uncertainty and complexity) - Scanning (to spot & synthesize signals and forces) - Innovation (to pave way for new impact/value) - Strategy (to develop and validate direction) - Discovery (to build out scenarios and backcast to action) - Transformation (to facilitate culture/process/implementation) - Intro (to catalyze and educate on the most relevant challenges) *These sprints may also take in the form of one-off keynotes/briefings (dashes), training (hurdles), longer engagements (marathons) or executive counsel (decathlons). The idea of surfacing a "dial an expert" platform to get an hour of perspective also had attraction, but may take away from our initial offering. How we do it: Emphasis on speed, multi-discipline collaboration, deep experience and no B.S. progress on client & customer-centred challenges Why we're better: 6x the breadth, 4x the experience, 3x the speed at 2x the value.

The third type of Sprint within our Cygnus Sprints consulting and advisory group is the Scanning Sprint. I'll invoke founder of Google Larry Page's words here to support the absolute need for organications to incorporate scanning (futures, foresight and forecasting) into the core of their organizations: "Lots of companies don't succeed over time. What do they fundamentally do wrong? They usually miss the future." Too many companies are missing the future. And the future is coming faster at them than it ever did.
