"This workshop was educational and fun!" Excited to share some highlights from the recent Marks and Spencer workshop for our students at Cardiff and Vale College. The session focused on the Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) and the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol, breaking down their structures, functions, and real-world applications using Wireshark. Students got hands-on with packet analysis and threat detection, making complex concepts more tangible. The balloon demonstration and relatable analogies were a hit, making learning both engaging and accessible. A huge thank you to Ellis S. and Daniel Turner for their insightful teaching and Darren Oakley for helping make this session happen, and, of course, to Steve Cottrell for your ongoing support and partnership with Cyber College Cymru. Student feedback speaks for itself—these workshops are making a real impact on their understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals. #Cybersecurity #Networking #MarksAndSpencer #CardiffandVale

Last week Coleg Gwent hosted an incredible Cyber College Cymru workshop for the Year 2 students as they put theory into action by practicing ethical hacking, diving into password-cracking techniques, and tackling real-scenario vulnerabilities like ??????????????????. James Whitaker and Rhodri Jenkins The Royal Mint presented a brilliant workshop for our students. They set a great tone, sharing their industry experience and breaking down complex topics. The students quickly got to work in the labs, exploring password hash extraction, working through attack scenarios, and building important cybersecurity skills. Some students found the Log4Shell extension task tricky, but were up for the challenge! Thanks to James, Rhodri, and The Royal Mint for delivering such an engaging workshop, and Richard Fowler for your continued support and partnership. These sessions are exactly what Cyber College Cymru is about—bridging the gap between education and industry and preparing the next generation of cyber professionals.
