It’s time for a celebration and some sweet competition! Join Connecticut’s Old State House on Saturday, November 2, for the third annual Election Cake Bake Off from 12 Noon to 3 pm. Connecticut pastry chefs and bakers will go whisk to whisk to have their confection crowned the official Connecticut Election Cake of 2024. This family-friendly event includes cake tasting, music, and fun activities in preparation for election day on November 5. Worried your vote doesn't matter? Maybe you don't feel either candidate is worthy of your vote? Before deciding whether to stay home on Election Day, consider how low voter turnout could impact you. Imagine these dots represent the people in your community. The yellow dots are the folks who come out to vote. The gray dots represent those who stay home. Remember, the November 5th election isn't just about choosing a president. It's about selecting leaders to represent your community and state. When voter turnout is low, the decision is left to a small portion of people. Ask yourself, does this small slice of the community share my priorities? Do these voters face the same challenges as me? Can I trust them to represent my interests? The more people who vote, the better consensus we get of who the community believes should lead.
