  • It's Friday... "Hope This Helps" (#13): break-ups are tough -Jason Nemoy, Partner/Director For those that are in transition, going through a RIF, a lay-off, or simply being in a professional relationship that doesn’t work out can be really tough. Especially the long-term relationships, like 10+ years. (Although the short-term ones can really sting too.) Coming out of a long-term relationship, I’ve had colleagues say “Where do I start? I’ve been out of the game for so long!” The simple answer to that question is I don’t have a clear one. But I do understand how you feel: a little scared, anxious, maybe a little excited for the new opportunities ahead, or for many of us... deer in headlights. The key is you’re not alone and please DON’T conduct your search on your own. Dig deep and collaborate with every type of professional in your network, join an Association, get involved in your community somehow, and surround yourself with good people who bring the right value to your journey. Take a positive stand to the break-up, and your professional “reset”. Be creative.

  • It's Friday... “Hope This Helps” (#27): the dreaded phone interview -Jason Nemoy For those that in are in transition or career search mode, you're most likely going to land the phone interview or screen before anything else. Feeling a little anxious about it? Butterflies in the stomach? I’ve been there before and know the feeling. So as corny as it may sound, take a few deep breaths just prior to the call and actually SMILE, and prepare to be as poised and enthusiastic as possible. The interviewer will absolutely feel and appreciate your energy, and first impression will be established in the first 10 seconds. And please, don't forget to have your resume and notes in front of you for quick reference. Appreciate the opportunity for the call and enjoy the experience.

  • It's Friday.... “Hope This Helps” (#4):?ensure your network stays on?your radar! -Jason Nemoy, Partner/Director For anyone in transition or in career search mode, letting someone know you’re in the hunt for a new opportunity should?NOT be a “one-and-done”. Very important to gently keep your network updated regarding the traction around your search. Maybe it’s a quick email update every 3-4 weeks. And when you do "land", please let everyone know. Keep the updates positive and succinct and ensure your network stays on your radar. Be creative!

  • Good morning. We want to quickly socialize an HR opportunity in the non-profit space that Search Consultants Julia Rice and Jackie Obrecht are tackling for a new client of ours. Significant employee relations experience required, hybrid 25% travel in the Baltimore-DC area (which will keep someone on the move!), highly visible, engaging and interactive role, positioned at $80k-$85k, working with a wonderful HR team supporting a strong mission. If potentially qualified and interested, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the HR team at [email protected]. Thank you.

  • It's Friday... “Hope This Helps” (#32): if you’re not early, you’re late! -Jason Nemoy, PHR For those that are in transition or in career search mode, first impression with future employers is key... especially when it comes to punctuality. Very quick story: Last week, a colleague of mine showed up literally 1 minute late for his scheduled interview with a potential future employer and it did not go unnoticed. Certainly his apology helped, but was it enough to indicate to his interviewers that he was reliable? (Reliability is a key ingredient of trust.) The message here and my two cents (and I certainly appreciate additional insight please), if you think there is a hint you’re going to be late to an interview/meeting, physically pick up the phone and let someone know. Being late happens, we’re not perfect and life gets in the way. And, you have the opportunity to build trust with your communication. It just may land you the job. Hope this helps.
