The only free and open-access tool for assessing the impact potential of climate technologies

关于我们

CRANE (Carbon Reduction Assessment for New Enterprises) is the only free and open-access tool designed to calculate the forward-looking GHG impacts of emerging climate technologies. It offers standardized, user-friendly GHG impact calculations. As a free, science-backed, and open-access software tool, CRANE fills a critical resource gap in the climate finance ecosystem. CRANE empowers investors, innovators, philanthropists, and other users to make informed, data-driven decisions by uncovering the climate impact potential of new ventures. It helps ensure that capital can reach the most impactful innovations and innovators, regardless of geography or background, and drive meaningful progress toward our shared climate goals. The tool was developed by Prime Coalition, a nonprofit on a mission to unlock catalytic capital and change the future of climate finance, in collaboration with Rho Impact, a software and data provider powering the world's most reliable impact forecasting. 2024 was the hottest year on record. I couldn’t help but feel the weight of climate change as extreme weather events hit home. In the U.S. alone,?climate disasters cost over $182.7B, and my heart goes to everyone affected, from the devastating LA wildfires and storms to widespread flooding and other catastrophic events around the globe. In today’s challenging climatic and political landscape, collaboration on high-impact solutions is more critical than ever. As the line between climate risk and financial risk continues to blur, we need robust, forward-looking metrics to pinpoint the innovations that will build a resilient future. That’s why we created? The CRANE Tool (www.cranetool.org). It’s the only free tool of its kind designed to make future-focused impact assessment more accessible. Since 2020, CRANE has helped over 5,600 users—including investors, entrepreneurs, and accelerators— quantify the emissions impact potential of emerging climate solutions. Looking ahead to 2025, I’m excited about CRANE’s continued impact as a vital resource for investors and innovators. We’ve refreshed?CRANE’s website?and?app?with a bold new look, joined?LinkedIn, and launched our inaugural CRANE?webinar?focused on model customization. We’re also exploring ways to expand CRANE to better support you. During my morning reflections, I’m reminded of the strength and gratitude I feel for our global sustainability community. None of this would be possible without our purpose-driven partners stepping in to bridge critical gaps in climate finance. If you’d like to brainstorm or collaborate, please reach out to us at?[email protected]?or?join our philanthropic partners?in supporting CRANE’s future.
