Following market feedback we were being asked to provide more and more contract reviews and being the innovators we are we wanted to ensure that we gave more than a simple contract review, we wanted to provide an end-to-end service to protect our clients and ensure they finish the contract in the best way possible. So we developed Contract Sentry? - which provides you with the peace of mind that there are no risky or unmanageable clauses in your contract, but with some added optional extras. Chapter 1 - In addition to reviewing your contract we can negotiate the contract on your behalf. Chapter 2 - Monthly check-ins throughout the period of the contract over Teams. Chapter 3 - During working hours access to an instant messaging service to get advice on the go.     Hands up if you were in the Scouts as a kid (or cubs, brownies, guides etc)? I was a cub, scout and then a venture scout I absolutely loved my time there and am still connected to my old scout leaders Fraser Veale and Ross Hugh!! One of my all time favourite things was camping ?? We would sleep under proper canvas, build a cooking stove, dig latrines, wash in rivers, whittle sticks and so on ?? I will always remember the very first camp I attended and the “initiation” test We were all given a cup with a magic potion inside and then had to recite the ancient words of the Scout order, by the Chief Scout (George Strang) ?? They went (please repeat after me) Oh…….wattah……….nah………Siam!! LOUDER!!! ?? So we stood chest puffed out thinking….wow….how cool is this, we are about to join the hallowed ranks of the Scouts and they’re even letting us know their sacred language ? So we said it - slowly to begin with and then we had to repeat it a few times and then drink the magic potion Yuck!! (the contents were I believe made up of a concoction of ketchup and various hot sauces) ?? And then the penny dropped ????♂? And if you’ve not already twigged the sacred text actually said “oh what an ass I am!!” And we all laughed and bonded over the campfire and became friends under the stars Core memory right there, but I guess you wouldn’t be allowed to do stuff like that these days!! ?? Sometimes not seeing the whole picture can leave you feeling a little stupid, but it can also be funny ?? And then sometimes not seeing the whole picture can be devastating….say in a contract you signed without having it reviewed by an expert…….. Contract Sentry? is here to change that and make sure nobody makes an ass out of you!! ?? still making an ass if myself at camps, but these days the magic potion tends to be an aged single malt!! ??

    Okay I was honest the other day about getting some help and using ChatGPT*, now gentlemen over to you, I want the truth!! ?? Guys, have you ever struggled to get it up? You know what I mean, that awful dread feeling when you’re sat there with it in your hand, looking at it, it’s useless, feeling the weight of it, wondering what to do….????♂? But then, you remember you’ve got something in your drawer to help you out… A brand new pen…??? I meant a pen you dirty little monkey ?? They say the pen is mightier than the sword, that is definitely true in our adjudications But it’s also pretty fucking mighty to not use your pen and walk away from a contract that’s not in your interest and is going to leave your cashflow…..well a tad limp ?? Then the walking away is defo mightier than the sword……. It makes sense. What makes sense? To get your bloody contract reviewed Poindexter before you sign it, then have monthly checkins so we don’t have to Adjudicate to get you paid. Jeez keep up.     Have you ever wanted to high five someone... in the face... with a shovel? ??????♂? Me too. ?? A recent example - I was advising a client on an NEC3 subcontract received AFTER the price had been accepted and the works started. ???? The main contractor threatened my client with the old tired and utterly BS line - “if you don’t sign it, we won’t pay you.” ???? Well I said to them I don’t think so. ???? That’s not allowed!! They backed down and we entered three months of back and forth. ??? Long story short. We got down to two clauses that, to put it bluntly, were ludicrous. ??♂??? My position for my client was unless we significantly increase the price they would need to be removed. ???? The main contractor's QS put that back to their legal advisers (we will call him Bob Agg to avoid any embarrassment)??????? They came back and said something that was clearly not for my eyes, but slipped through. ?? “Just remove them, we have enough ammunition elsewhere!!” said Mr Agg ?? ???? Yes, you read that right!! ???? So my point is this. Main contractors (many, but not all) in my long experience don’t care about specialist contractors like you. ????♂? They write contracts that are full of clauses designed to push liability down to you, reduce payments, and generally cause you stress. The ammunition in the above story!! ???? This industry needs those who do the work to know what they’re getting into, and that’s why contracts need to be reviewed before signing. ???? The stakes are higher now than ever, with main contractors folding at an alarming rate taking down specialists with them. ???? Why would you want to be part of that? ??♂?
