Decision-makers depend on tailored, location-specific forecasts to navigate wildfires and prescribed burns. Whether you’re a National Weather Service operational forecaster, Incident Meteorologist, or someone who uses, interprets, and communicates location-specific forecasts, our new “Tactical Fire Weather Forecasting II” lesson is for you. You’ll work through two simulations to learn how to gather information, prepare a forecast, and craft specific messaging for each incident. ?? Take the lesson here: https://lnkd.in/g6JsHDqz

Another American Meteorological Society conference to remember! Being my first conference since moving to Colorado, it was a great opportunity to maintain connections and friendships from undergrad while also meeting new students and professionals. A few highlights from the week: ?Student conference storm chasing training with Girls Who Chase’s Jennifer Walton, Dr. Robin Tanamachi, and COMET MetEd. ? The fourth AMS Women’s Workshop highlighting the experiences of women in the field of meteorology and related sciences, which also marked my first time as a panelist! ?A successful and engaging AMS Women’s luncheon! Women and allies had the opportunity to network, share experiences, and be creative within a safe and inviting environment. ? My oral presentation of work completed during summer 2024 in the NSF UCAR SOARS program: “Assessment of Time-Lagged, Medium-Range, High-Resolution Ensemble Forecasts of Extreme Precipitation Events”. I am beyond grateful for all the opportunities I have had through various organizations represented at the conference and for those that supported me in any way. I look forward to seeing what 2025 will bring!
