?????????? What can Chile’s experience with transitional justice teach Yemen? As part of the 2024-2025?#ColumbiaGlobal Emerging Scholars cohort, Adel Dashela, based at Columbia Global Center Amman (CGC Amman), spent two weeks in Chile—hosted by the Santiago Center—to study the country’s post-dictatorship approach to truth, justice, and reparations. Together with Carla Magri R., the Center’s Communications & Development Officer, they designed a comprehensive program that included visits to key memory sites and meetings with experts, activists, and scholars who have shaped Chile’s #transitionaljustice landscape, promoted reparation policies, and worked to preserve historical memory and human rights education in the country. A huge thanks to everyone who made this trip a success, including Elizabeth Lira, Boris Hau,Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos, Secretaría Casa Memoria, Marta Cisterna, María Paz Vergara Low, Villa Grimaldi, and many others. ??
