Emerging Philanthropists Council Member Spotlight: Jess Salzbrun Chief Information Officer of Defense & Systems at GE Aerospace. “At 5 weeks old, our daughter was diagnosed with a brain abnormality and severe epilepsy. Over the next two years, she went from having 40 seizures a day while taking seven medications, to being fully seizure free, weaned off all meds, and with no developmental deficits. Groundbreaking brain surgery and world class care at Cincinnati Children's changed the course of her life.” Jess found her place at GE Aerospace in 2018 after leading high-growth tech start-ups and working with data and process change roles. In her role, she oversees digital strategy, ensures regulatory and cybersecurity compliance, and delivers technology solutions across engineering, supply chains, sales and product sustainment. Beyond her impact on the industry, she also leaves her mark on her community through her philanthropic efforts. “The Emerging Philanthropists Council represents one small way to give back to the organization that gave our family so much.” Stay tuned for our upcoming spotlight next month! We are honored to once again be named to U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals Honor Roll for the 2024-25 rankings. This year, we ranked No. 1 in three specialties, pediatric cancer, gastroenterology and pulmonology, and we placed in the top 10 for all 10 ranked specialties, making us the only health system in the 13-state Midwest region—and one of just two nationwide—to achieve this distinction. U.S. News & World Report also recognized us on its list of top hospitals for pediatric and adolescent behavioral health. In a significant change, Honor Roll hospitals are no longer ranked in a specific order, a shift that began with adult hospitals in 2023 and now applies to children’s hospitals. ?? We hit the jackpot with our friends from the @Women’s Business Enterprise National Council WBENC! ?? Our Cincinnati Children's Seacrest Studios ?? recently held a Bingo session guest hosted by WBENC, featuring a special prize created by their very own Dr. Ronak M.! Dr. Ronak Mehta designed plushies—called Nerdbugs—in the shapes of different organs to help educate the community about various medical conditions. The soft, new plushies have found loving homes with kids and families to help people of all ages understand their bodies. “We thank Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Seacrest Studios for all you do for patients and families,” says Erin Watson, APR , Vice President of Marketing and Communication. “Being able to contribute in even a small way to your mission is deeply fulfilling and showcases the incredible power of connection.” We shared some laughs, gave away adorable prizes and spread joy throughout our health system to keep spirits high. Thank you WBENC, Dr. Mehta, Erin, Carla Cobb and Laura Taylor!
