In my article for Chief Investment Officer magazine, I outline where to find value amid Japan’s structural awakening. Semiconductors are necessary inputs to productivity-boosting technologies that can help Japan allay its labor supply shortages, but there may also be value in less apparent places. Domestic demand sectors have to date been lagging, yet households are staring to show more resilience than expected. Meanwhile, select small to midsize firms who can afford to pay higher wages and pass through prices (Japan’s virtuous circle) also stand to benefit.
