This powerful short film, directed by National Geographic Explorer ángel Linares, highlights local solutions driving positive change in Mancolona, Mexico — the site of CEFO Indigena’s first community-led connectivity pilot. It’s inspiring to see through the eyes of Sebastian Moreno Sanchez, how connectivity is helping these communities navigate the construction of the “Maya Train” megaproject. We are excited to share that the new community network in Bellavista, Peru ??????, is up and running. Thanks to the close collaboration with the Siekopaai women of the Ke?ao Association! They are leading the way towards a model of sustainable management and the right to connectivity for the Siekopaai nationality. ?? We have completed the necessary preparations to begin installing the network and training a local technical team to manage the community internet system ????. Additionally, Bellavista will have a solar system to strengthen its energy sovereignty ????. We want to thank our strategic allies from Alianza Ceibo, Amazon Frontlines, and the Indigenous Secoya Organization of Peru-OISPE for making this project possible ?? Soon, the Bellavista community network will be a reality! ?? And let's not forget that this initiative is also reaching Mexico! ???? This new network on the Amazonian border between Peru and Ecuador will join "Territorio Vivo," the Network of Community Networks built together with the Laboratorio Popular de Medios Libres and the Indigenous CEFO. We are building together a connected and sustainable future! ????

It is worth noting that this agreement marks a significant milestone in the defense and strengthening of the rights of indigenous communities in the Amazon basin. ????? Equitable Origin, a leader in sustainable energy certification through the EO100?, and COICA ORG, the Coordinator of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon Basin, join forces to promote sustainability and respect for the rights of Indigenous communities and their ancestral knowledge to address the climate crisis. Over the next years we will focus on working along our Indigenous allies focusing on a fair and responsible energy transition, positioning COICA and Equitable Origin as pioneering organizations in the discussion on energy in Indigenous territories ??????
