It is a privilege to hear Leona Tate’s courageous story, and we are deeply inspired by her bravery in sharing it. . We remain humbled by our involvement in the adaptive reuse and redevelopment of the former McDonogh 19 Elementary School in the Lower Ninth Ward. Central States contributed the last $5 million in New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) financing need to close and make this transformation possible. . 64 years after those pivotal moments in history, the former McDonogh 19 Elementary School now houses the TEP Interpretive Center, named in honor of Leona Tate, Tessie Prevost, and Gail Etienne. The TEP Center is the first to preserve and teach the important history of civil rights in New Orleans and Louisiana while providing affordable housing for seniors. .
