Looking back on the Gender Investment Gap panel at the #SankalpAfrica2025 Summit last week, these are my takeaways on how to support female entrepreneurs in the Global South: Make A Business Case: for funding female entrepreneurs. Studies show that diverse teams outperform homogeneous teams by 20-30%. Tackling the funding gap should be seen as an untapped opportunity for investors, not just a moral obligation. Leverage Tech & Data: Investors can reduce the effect of gender bias in the investment process. Simple awareness is a first step, but gender-diverse investment teams, data-driven models and AI tools/applications can further reduce bias. Support Non-Traditional Sectors: Female-owned businesses tend to be concentrated in low-margin, low-growth sectors, so it is important to support women in non-traditional sectors. The green economy is a sector with significant opportunities for women. Build Communities: Female entrepreneurs don’t need just capital; they need a community that serves as a support system. Both men and women should keep doing the important work of supporting and mentoring female entrepreneurs, individually or through networks and platforms. A key player in MENA’s $201 billion digital payments market, Paymob is making digital payments accessible to businesses of all sizes by powering 350,000+ merchants. However, 67% of Egypt’s population remains unbanked, and many businesses still rely on cash. How is Paymob accelerating digital adoption in a cash-heavy economy? And what does this mean for the future of payments in MENA? Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gSSshgYQ #Fintech #DigitalPayments #MENA #FinancialInclusion #Paymob #UAE #MEANP
