Retaining complex information like cancer hallmarks is challenging for most high school students. Adding creative learning activities and interactive instruction can not only make the process fun, but boost students’ retention, a study led by four University of Florida cancer trainees found. The four graduate students in the University of Florida College of Medicine’s Cancer Biology Concentration?published?their findings in the journal BMC Medical Education on lessons learned from leading the six-week summer course on cancer biology and therapeutics. Congratulations to Dr. Kacel, one of the recipients of our UF Health Cancer Center Predoctoral Awards who was mentored by UF Health Cancer Center member Deidre Pereira! ??
Very excited to share this 'hot-off-the-press' online publication, hopefully the first of several, originating from my dissertation study on yoga for women with cancer. I started conceptualizing this project as early as 2012 while I was working at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute as a research coordinator and training to become a yoga instructor. I had big dreams to become a clinical psychologist specializing in cancer and 10 years later, here we are! I am currently working in an incredible cancer center at Rush University Medical Center and preparing to begin another study on yoga in oncology. Grateful to all of the wonderful, unique, and inspiring people who have uplifted me on this journey we call life!
