What Great Minds Can Do
关于我们
At the Buccino Leadership Institute, we invest in individuals who aren’t just great themselves, but who inspire greatness in others. As an institution, we have a rich legacy of leaders like Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first American born saint, who defied tradition and forged a way for those who followed behind. Here, we develop leaders who aren’t afraid to speak truth to power and who serve before they are asked to be served. Their confidence is recognizable and their vision contagious. That’s what it means to be a Seton Hall leader.

This week, our junior and senior leaders took advantage of a personalized professional development opportunity through our Interview Simulation. Students were individually paired with a professional volunteer and a Master of Health Administration (MHA) student. They simulated an interview with commonly asked interview questions and a scenario where they were required to think on their feet and demonstrate their ability to problem-solve. Students received in-depth feedback from their interviewers. MHA students were able to practice their interviewing and feedback skills as well and receive feedback from the professional volunteers. Many thanks to our partners in the MHA department, University Career Center, Human Resources and our dedicated alumni and Buccino Leadership Institute Advisory Council Members for giving their time and talents. I look forward to sharing our data at the Petersheim Academic Expo with my peer Experiential Learning Fellows. It is always a pleasure to work with Jennifer McCarthy, Stanton Brown, and Staysha Taylor on behalf of the Buccino Leadership Institute at Seton Hall University to make magic happen for our students. #wemakeleadersbetter #setonhalluniversity #experientiallearning #professionaldevelopment #leadership
Transformational, brave leader and simulation expert, with successes in engaging diverse populations and driving positive change in higher education and healthcare systems.
Having a vision and seeing it come to reality is always a gift. ??As a Buccino Leadership Institute at Seton Hall University Faculty Fellow and the Director of Clinical Simulation from Seton Hall School of Health and Medical Sciences (SHMS) the hopes of integrating undergraduate and graduate student future leaders in a simulation came to life! It also helped Dean Elizabeth Halpin complete her Experiential Fellow project requirements. Everyone expanded their use of SIM theory and debriefing strategies, but most important, our students transformed and engaged with industry leaders who anchored our leadership experience in best practices and real world strategies. #simnotjustforhealthcare #SIMbestpractices #transformation PS finally working closer with Nalin Johri was fabulous! Thank you Michael Reuter Elizabeth Halpin Dr. Stan Brown

This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend the McDonald Conference for Leaders of Character at the United States Military Academy. Through this conference, I was able to meet and connect with students from top universities across the country and internationally, senior leaders across multiple industries, and military leaders. Participating as a student fellow allowed me to take home lessons of leading an organization through change. I'd like to thank the MCLC staff and Senior Fellows for this amazing conference, especially Christopher Rotolo. Further, thank you to Dean Elizabeth Halpin and the Buccino Leadership Institute at Seton Hall University for nominating me for this experience. #Leadership #Character #WestPoint #McDonaldConference #MCLC #LeadershipDevelopment

What's your definition of leadership? Better yet, if you had ONE word to define leadership, what would it be? Mine would be "Others." When I ran the Buccino Leadership Institute at Seton Hall University, I would ask each new cohort during their first class in their 4-year journey at Seton Hall University to write down their definition of leadership. I told them to not use the Google machine or ask Siri. Just define leadership in their own words. In the first year I did this, I aggregated all the responses and put them into a word cloud. For those who are not hip to word clouds, they produce a visual where the largest words in the cloud represent those most frequently used. The smaller the word, the less frequently it was used. I was a bit surprised when I saw the results - "Others" was the biggest word in the cloud. I repeated my experiment the next year with a new crop of 83 freshmen. "Others." Same result. I got the same result the year after that. And the year after that. Now "others" is my go-to definition whenever I give talks to audiences about leadership. Leadership isn't about you. It's not about titles or perks or individual accomplishment. It's about "others." Be the leader you want to be led by.
