NEW Medicare Code for Defect Closure Procedures Boston Scientific is committed to advancing the field of endoscopy. Recently, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services approved our application for a new HCPCS code describing endoscopic defect closure procedures for complication management such as leaks, perforations and fistulas within the GI tract. Effective July 1, 2024 hospitals may use C9901 to report defect closure procedures in the outpatient setting. The 2024 Medicare national average hospital outpatient payment for C9901 is $9,808, increasing 6% to $10,411 in 2025. Defect closure procedures may include devices that are part of Boston Scientific’s portfolio including the MANTIS? Clip, OverStitch? NXT and X-Tack? Endoscopic Suturing Systems.
