  • Beyond the Internship: Gen>NEXT Alumni at BMW #Postnumber4: Final Post! ?? Meet Paige Swafford ?? ?? Paige graduated from Wofford College in 2019 and went on to earn her M.S. from Northeastern University and MBA from Anderson University (SC). Paige completed four internships BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC., all in the Qualification, Apprentice, and Future Talent Programs Department. Today, Paige is a full-time associate in the Body and Press Shop, where she is responsible for environmental sustainability within the department, with a key focus on steering their energy target. She also serves as the lead for technology initiatives within the plant-wide environmental sustainability project.?Paige first joined the Body and Press Shop as a Contract Workforce (CWF) employee. Since she had already been accepted into the SpeedUp Program during her internship, she was able to apply internally to become a permanent associate. ?? Reflecting on her Gen>NEXT experience, Paige shared, "The Gen>NEXT experience is truly unique. Even as a student, I was trusted with tasks and projects like a full-time associate. This helped me grow both personally and professionally, preparing me for my current position." ?? When asked why she chose to stay at BMW, Paige explained, "I fell in love with the fast-paced, collaborative environment and growth mindset. Here, it feels like anything is possible.” ?? What is Paige's advice for current Gen>NEXT students? 1?? “Bring your best every day.” Paige emphasized, “I did not come from a technical background, but the opportunities I had in the Gen>NEXT Program allowed me to showcase my work ethic, adaptability, and passion for learning. This impression gave me the opportunity I have now.” 2?? ?“Find your ‘why’ and let that drive you.   • Beyond the Internship: Gen>NEXT Alumni at BMW #Postnumber3: More to come ?? ?? Meet Daniel McCraw ?? ?? Daniel received his B.S. from Western Carolina University and is currently pursuing his MBA at Liberty University. A former Gen>NEXT alumni, Daniel completed three internships at BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC in Assembly and Body Shop.?Today, Daniel is thriving as a full-time associate in the Body Shop, where he focuses on Financial and Strategic Production Planning. Daniel secured this role through BMW’s SpeedUp Program and by actively building connections across Plant10. ?? Reflecting on his experience as a Gen>NEXT Student, Daniel recalls, “Nothing about my intern experience was traditional—I do not come from an engineering background. I put myself in situations to grow. If you don’t understand something, go watch it. If you don’t know why something happens the way it does, ask questions. Listen to those around you and use the knowledge base available." ?? Daniel chose to stay at BMW because of the company’s commitment to innovation and investment in the next generation. He explains, “At BMW, you can control your destiny while enjoying the company’s stability.” ?? Daniel has two key pieces of advice for those who want to follow in his footsteps: 1?? “Identify what you can realistically be the best at, align it with your passions, set clear career goals, and go for it.” 2?? "You can have results or excuses. Not both. Work hard, but also smart. Manage your time wisely and distinguish between life’s unexpected challenges and excuses. Alyssia earned her degree in Finance from University of Georgia - Terry College of Business and her MBA from Clemson University MBA Programs. As a former Gen>NEXT student, she worked in Paint Shop, ultimately securing a full-time role as an external hire. Starting as a Production Specialist in the Paint Shop, Alyssia now serves as a Financial & Strategic Production Planner for the Gen6 Battery Project, where she manages financial and headcount steering and seeks opportunities for continuous improvement and cost optimization. ?? Reflecting on her experience with BMW Manufacturing Gen>NEXT Student Programs, Alyssia shared that she “took advantage of all the workshops and seminars that were afforded to me. The program did an amazing job of giving us the skillset for professional development and examples into the journey of successful leaders in the company.” ?? When asked why she chose to stay at BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC after her internship, Alyssia explained it was because she was “able to pursue a career that was in line with my degree in Finance but in an environment that afforded me the opportunity to influence the numbers I see in the spreadsheet.” ?? Alyssia’s advice for Gen>NEXT students? "Take advantage of the resources you have available to you. Take the time to build your network and get to know the professional band at the plant. Paige is a Clemson University alumna, and former Gen>NEXT Student who is now a PACE Associate working as a Section Leader Integrator in Assembly Logistics. She’s working on initiatives to streamline processes and cut operational costs. ?? As a Gen>NEXT Student, Paige worked in Indirect Purchasing for three rotations. During that time, she “built key skills in time management and communication that made her transition to a BMW associate much easier.” ?? When asked why she chose to stay at BMW after she graduated Clemson, Paige said, “After three internships here, I knew BMW was where I wanted to grow my career. The culture is welcoming, and they truly invest in their people. It’s where I felt I could keep building my skills and contribute to something innovative.” ?? Paige advises those who want to follow in her footsteps to “never be afraid to ask questions.” Paige recalls, “As a Gen>NEXT Student, I would often go around my department and ask for help, advice, extra work, or even if I could join someone in their meeting to get additional experience. As a result, many more opportunities opened for me, and I was able to build a strong professional network. Ultimately, asking those questions and building my network helped secure my full-time role and put me where I am today!” __________________________________________________________________________________ ? PACE Program: During this session, Ethan Smith gave insight on BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC premier rotational program that allows recent college graduates the ability to work in three different areas at Plant Spartanburg in your first two years with BMW, while incorporating 800+ hours of professional and technical training. 2?? Contract Workforce: In collaboration with AgileOne, this session shared information on how to become a contract employee at Plant Spartanburg and explained how contract roles can serve as a stepping stone to permanent positions.? ?? Additionally, we introduced our Gen>NEXT Students to SpeedUp, a BMW global talent program that offers 55+ hours of training and internal hiring status upon completion.
