That's a big number. As many gear up for open enrollment, October is a good time to reassess progress towards retirement security (it is #nationalretirementsecuritymonth after all!). Betterment's 2023 Retirement Readiness Report - https://ow.ly/hnMn50TUFM9 - found that while 35% of respondents expected to need $1M+ saved, only 14% felt they would be able to achieve this number. Most (61%) felt they'd need $500K+, but only 31% expected to achieve it. We're currently working on our 2024 report. Do you think these trends have changed in the last year?

?? Employers are starting to help employees tackle student loan debt! Our own Edward Gottfried discusses new legislation that went into effect at the beginning of 2024 (Secure Act 2.0) allows employers to treat student loan payments as eligible for 401(k) matches. This gives employees repaying loans the chance to receive an employer match, even if they can't contribute fully to their 401(k). ????
