Recently, our Director of Alumni and Community Relations attended the Tiger Bay Club of Central Florida’s Women’s History Month event, featuring an inspiring panel of Central Florida’s female Supervisors of Elections: Karen Castor Dentel (Orange County), Mary Jane Arrington (Osceola County), Melony Bell (Polk County), Amy Pennock, CFE, CICA Pennock (Seminole County), and Melissa Vickers (Orange County Public Defender). Shannon Butler from WFTV Channel 9 moderated the discussion. The panel covered key updates on Florida’s election process and these leaders' vital role in shaping our democracy. Our director was happy to share the table at the event with Barry Law alum Judge Christine E. Arendas of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court. At Barry Law, we believe informed, engaged communities are the foundation of justice. Events like this keep us connected to the issues that impact our students, alumni, and the legal profession. #BarryLaw #ElectionLaw #CivicEngagement #WomensHistoryMonth #PublicService #Leadership

#ThrowbackThursday As we look back on the past few months, we’re proud of the meaningful connections we’ve built here at Barry Law. Strengthening relationships with our community and media partners is a key part of our mission, helping to highlight important conversations about legal education, advocacy, and public service. We had the pleasure of welcoming Lucy Soto-Mera from Univision to our law school campus. It’s always a great opportunity to discuss the intersection of law and media and how it shapes our communities. We appreciate Lucy taking the time to visit and look forward to future collaborations that help inform and inspire our students and alumni. #BarryLaw #Univision #LegalEducation #CommunityConnections #Advocacy #LawAndMedia

Alumni Spotlight: Courtney Jones ('15) – A Community Leader in Legal Advocacy and Mentorship This Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating Barry Law alumnae who lead with purpose, break barriers, and uplift their communities. And when it comes to dedication, Courtney Jones ('15) is the real deal. In her own words: "Rooted in love for my family, driven by a passion for justice, and committed to uplifting those in need, I am a woman attorney whose heart beats for both the law and the community I serve." That passion has shaped every step of her career. As the Manager of Pro Bono Development at Community Legal Services, Courtney expands access to justice, connecting attorneys with meaningful pro bono opportunities that make a real impact. Before stepping into this role, she helped shape the future of the legal profession as Assistant Director of Career Planning, mentoring students and alumni, running career workshops, and guiding aspiring attorneys toward success. Her dedication to mentorship didn’t stop there. She also served as a professor at Agape Bar Preparatory Services, Inc., supporting law graduates as they tackled one of the biggest challenges of their careers—the bar exam. Even during her time at Barry Law, Courtney’s leadership stood out. She was an active member of Phi Alpha Delta, the Women’s Lawyers Association, the Hispanic Law Students Association, and served as Vice Chair for the Southern Region of the National Black Law Students Association. Courtney’s journey is proof that the law isn’t just about the courtroom — it’s about people, community, and making a difference. This month, we’re proud to celebrate her and the many women in law who use their voices, skills, and passion to create meaningful change. #WomensHistoryMonth #BarryLaw #AlumniSpotlight #WomenInLaw #LegalAdvocacy #AccessToJustice #BarryProud
