On November 13th, just over a week after the election, Atlas Public Policy's founder, Nick Nigro, will sit down with Mike Murphy, CEO of the EV Politics Project, to discuss what the results mean for electric vehicles. The incoming President and Congress will significantly influence the outcomes of the substantial investments in electric vehicle and battery manufacturing made in recent years. We are at a critical time for government regulations as manufacturers work to meet new state and EPA rules. Nick and Mike will unpack these issues and more.

On Donald Trump’s first day of office, the President signed a slew of executive orders taking aim at several Biden-era climate initiatives, including those in favor of electric vehicles (EVs), signaling a shift in federal policy efforts to accelerate EV adoption. Despite this changing political landscape, however, the EV market continues to expand, with an 11.1% light-duty EV market share in November 2024. Today, we released our first big report on the clean economy. "Tracking the State of U.S. EV Manufacturing" is a deep dive into the numbers we've collected over the last several years that bring to light the beginnings of a renaissance in U.S. manufacturing, broadly speaking. Manufacturing construction investments are at their highest levels in decades. We're doing things in this country we haven't done in my lifetime (Gen Xer here). And importantly, companies and government are working together to ensure the jobs being created pay well and offer good benefits. The electric vehicle supply chain is a great example of what's happening right now for two reasons. First, it's widespread: 54 counties will each see more than 1,000 EV manufacturing jobs. Second, it's American-made: American companies are investing more than double the next largest country. Shout out to the long list of folks who helped make this one a reality: Tom Taylor, Stephen Naimoli, Sophie Latham, Katherine Shok, Ted Fertik, Reem Rayef, Ariel Pinchot, and Roxanne Johnson. And thanks to Berkeley Lab and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for funding the project. I posted a link to the report in the comment. Check it out and let me know what stands out to you!

Join Atlas Public Policy for our next EV Hub Live episode on January 10th for a look-ahead on EVs. We will be joined by Cassie Powers, Chief of Staff of the National Association of State Energy Officials and Phil Jones, Executive Director of the Alliance for Transportation Electrification. Our guests will discuss what we can expect to happen in the year ahead and will offer some reflections on developments from 2024. Their perspectives as leaders in the EV industry are especially relevant now, as changes in Washington following November’s election will likely result in changes to federal EV policy.
