Reynold Hoover has a breadth of leadership experience—from the U.S. Military, to the federal government, and now the world of sports. As CEO of the LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games, he's already started work on the planning and execution of the 2028 Games. In Kansas City, only 2% of regional sports and physical activity providers focus on serving people with physical or cognitive disabilities. Those providers make an outsized impact, but face challenges to scale and serve more kids.

Bus rides are free in Kansas City, and yet only 1% of youth we surveyed in the Kansas City metro area use public transportation to get to sports facilities - mostly because sports facilities are concentrated in the outer suburbs, beyond the reach of the city's bus and streetcar networks. One community solution - a program to connect interested volunteers with sports programs that need drivers.

The new U.S. Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youth was released today by the Physical Activity Alliance. The grade for Organized Sport Participation was lowered from C to C-, "due to updated sources showing decreases in sports participation as well as large economic disparities." NEW! U.S. Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youth Reveals Continued Low Levels of Physical Activity Report gives U.S. an overall physical activity “D-” grade. (Washington, D.C.) - The Physical Activity Alliance, the nation’s largest national coalition dedicated to advancing regular participation in physical activity, today released the 2024 United States Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youth. The overall physical activity grade for children and youth remained low at D-, the same grade it received in 2022, the last time a report was made. The Physical Activity Alliance will host a webinar on October 24 at 1pm ET to take a dive deep into the findings and discuss the implications for parents, educators, and policymakers. We're thrilled to announce that we're teaming up with the California Governor’s Advisory Council on Physical Fitness and Mental Well-being for the 25x25 California Coaches Challenge! The mission is to train 25,000 youth coaches in CA by 2025 to revolutionize youth sports across the state. As part of the Council’s Move Your Body, Calm Your Mind Campaign, the Governor’s Council is collaborating with MCC partners Positive Coaching Alliance and Center for Healing and Justice through Sport to lead a statewide effort to promote positive youth development, social-emotional learning, and healing-centered practices among youth coaches. American Institutes for Research will provide research support for the initiative.
