Happy International Women's Day 2025 ?? This #IWD2025, we're #ARUProud to spotlight the work and research being done by our amazing academic colleagues. Dr Roberta Blake, Associate Professor in Animal Biomechanics and Sports Medicine, shares her thoughts: "Achieving equity in higher education and the land-based sector requires both structural and cultural change. We need targeted policies that promote gender equity in leadership, research funding, and academic promotions. At ARU, we have excellent initiatives towards gender equity, including supporting women to achieve leadership goals, mentorship and sponsorship programmes. In the land-based sector specifically, raising awareness of career opportunities, challenging stereotypes, and ensuring equitable access to education and professional development is key. Collaboration between academia, industry, and policymakers is crucial to driving long-term change in this area and empowering women to fulfil their ambitions" Who are you celebrating this #Internationalwomensday2025?

Happy International Women's Day 2025 ?? This #IWD2025, we're #ARUProud to spotlight the work and research being done by our amazing academic colleagues. Ruvini Ranasingha-Hetti, a lecturer in Commercial Production (Fresh Produce) at our Writtle Campus, shares her thoughts: "Achieving equity requires proactive efforts to break down barriers for women, particularly those from diverse and underprivileged backgrounds. This includes increasing access to education, mentorship, and leadership opportunities, as well as creating more inclusive and supportive environments. Representation matters when women see others like them succeeding, it inspires them to aim higher. In the land-based sector, we also need to challenge stereotypes and ensure equal opportunities for career growth and recognition" Who are you celebrating this #Internationalwomensday2025?
