As 2024 winds down, Microsoft made clear statements about the future of business applications: it’s AI agents. CEO Satya Nadella even went as far as to explain on a recent podcast that today’s #SaaS enterprise apps, including #Dynamics365 apps, are going to “collapse” into a series of agents. They will first replace everything above the database layer, and then replace those back ends, too, Nadella said. Other senior Microsoft managers are also pushing this vision, preparing the market for a world in which AI agents are the new apps. There is so much more to be said about Microsoft's AI push around biz apps in 2025 as they accelerate development, encourage uptake, and try to demonstrate ROI.
