关于我们

Arcosa Specialty Materials is the result of a long and successful history of doing one thing and one thing only. Treating people right. Our customers, our employees, our partners, and vendors. We believe when you take care of the people that matter most, everything else will take care of itself. Our roots go back to 1955 when the Harrison Gypsum Company originally began as a small family operation supplying gypsum to the family farm and neighbors. Originally named the Cement Gypsum Company, Harrison Mine No. 1 was opened near Cement, OK, and underwent the name change to Harrison Gypsum Company in 1956. Over the years the company developed the mining business by supplying raw gypsum rock to nearby manufacturers of Portland cement. As the market area for Harrison Gypsum expanded, gypsum reserves and production capacity also expanded. With business growing, capital investments were made to upgrade to modern mining equipment and improve infrastructure. In 1994, Harrison Gypsum’s mine #2 was named the largest single gypsum mine in the United States by the U.S. Department of the Interior Publication. Today, the total gypsum reserves of Harrison Gypsum Company is estimated to be in excess of a quarter of a billion tons. In 2012, HIG Capital, a leading global private equity investment firm, completed a recapitalization of Harrison Gypsum. This provided Harrison Gypsum with financial and operating resources that will enable us to further capitalize on our significant growth potential. 2015 marked a new chapter in the history of the company when Harrison Gypsum became ACG Materials. This new name gives a strong nod to our history as a company, but also to our future opportunities.

Our Boulder, CO mine and lightweight aggregate manufacturing plant was chosen as one location to pilot a new safety program. The new program is designed to create a mentorship program where new employees are assigned to more tenured employees. Along with equipment or machinery training, this initiative will focus on training new employees the safe way to work. Boulder is the last of three pilot locations. Other pilot locations include Bessie, OK, and Carson City, NV. At the end of the pilot program, the Continuous Improvement Team will use the findings to make any necessary adjustments to the program before rolling it out across the company. ARC 100 is a safety initiative launched in 2018 utilized across the Arcosa family of companies. Each safety initiative is created and presented by front line employees, understanding that they are the ones closest to any safety concern and the best possible solutions.

In the latest step of our ARC100 journey, a new team was created to design a Mentor Process for new hires, transfers and temporary employees. ? The team defined its goals in the following purpose statement: “The purpose of CIT#5 is to develop a thorough, caring mentor process that encourages a positive safety culture and consistent accountability that measures change and promotes teamwork to ensure long-term sustainable success.?(this process will apply to all new hires, transfers and temps)” ? The team developed a process that includes defined activities for all levels of the organization, a training plan to prepare everyone for involvement and a measurement system to track the results. This new process will be piloted at 3 different plants that include Bessie, OK, Boulder, CO and Carson City, NV in late July and early August. The goal is to gauge effectiveness and get feedback for improvement prior to implementation in all locations.

Industrial stormwater run-off can contain heavy pollutants that can soil water sources and harm ecosystems. As an effective solution, Arcosa Lightweight aggregate reduces heavy metals and fights pathogen growth from industrial stormwater. Here's a great article in Stormwater Solutions Magazine to learn how expanded shale, clay, and slate aggregates like the kind produced by Arcosa Lightweight can be used as an effective preventative measure in biofilters as a first-level treatment for industrial stormwater. https://lnkd.in/gtVB7_xi
