Thanks to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure staff for extending the invitation to attend the “Meet the Members” event on #CapitolHill. Andrea Eales and appreciated representing American Public Works Association APWA Government Affairs, spending time with the Members of Congress and their committee staff discussing how APWA can continue to work with the committee to advance the ever evolving role of public works professionals related to infrastructure and how to meet the needs of our communities. Having the support and partnership of the House Public Works and Infrastructure bi-partisan caucus, led by Republican co-chair Representative Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ-02) and Democratic co-chair Dina Titus (D-NV-01) is vital, and we are excited to grow the caucus during the 119th Session of Congress. ? It was very encouraging to hear both Representative Sam Graves (R-MO-06) T&I Committee Chair, and Representative Rick Larsen (D-WA-02), Ranking Member emphasize the importance of bipartisan efforts to move surface re-authorization/infrastructure legislation through their committee this year. ? The highlight was spending time with the Members of the Committee and their staff discussing APWA’s role in working with them on the best possible legislative measures for our nation’s infrastructure. Thanks to Representatives Troy Nehls (TX-22), Daniel Webster (FL-11), Sharice Davids (KS-03), and Rep. Titus for their time to share their thoughts with us. As well as catching up with familiar faces including Paul Miller and Justin Mann, Mitchell Moonier (with Rep. Titus), Brandon Naylor (with Rep. Davids) as well as my one-time APWA partner in crime Sean Garcia! ? We certainly look forward to working with Committee Chair Representative Sam Graves (R-MO), Ranking Member Representative Rick Larsen (D-WA-02), the subcommittees, and their top notch staff as the go to resource for public works.? #publicworks #firstresponders
