In celebration of Women’s History Month, we’re spotlighting a young history-maker paving the way for future generations: Alena Analeigh Wicker.
?
At just 13 years old, Alena became the youngest person ever accepted into medical school in the United States, receiving admission to the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Heersink School of Medicine through the Burroughs Wellcome Scholars Early Assurance Program.
?
But her brilliance doesn’t stop at academics.
?
While still in high school, Alena recognized the racial and gender disparities in STEM—and decided to do something about it. She founded Brown STEM Girl (BSG) to create a culture of inclusion, empowerment, and opportunity for girls of color in science, technology, engineering, and math. Through scholarships, mentorships, and internships, BSG is helping the next generation rise.
?
She also launched "Dorm Room Makeover", an initiative that supports first-year girls of color in STEM by making their new college environments feel like home.
?
Alena is proof that leadership, purpose, and impact know no age.
?
Here’s to bold beginnings, breaking barriers, and building futures.
